Boro knocked out the Junior challenge cup
1/4 final exit for Boro
This week we entertained North Somercotes at Bradley due to Lucarly's been water logged. With Scott Powles resigning in the week it was u21's manager James Swann stepping in with the help of Rob Mackie. Not many changes to the squad from previous weeks but with a new management team in place all place are now there to be played for.
The game got under way and it was not the best start for Boro as Somercotes scored first after just 8 minutes, a poor kick from Simon Krawczyk
was headed back for a Somercotes forward to run through and score. 0-1. Somercotes doubled there lead in the 19th minute, a corner kick simply headed in. 0-2. and in the 36th minute it was 3, 2 forwards beating the offside trap, Simon raced off his line to try clear the ball but it ricocheted off the forward and into the empty net. 0-3. Half time.
The second half didn't start any better as in the 47th minute Somercotes made it 4, a player finding space on the left, scoring with a nice finish across the face of the Boro keeper. 0-4. Boro finally pulled on back, great interchanging play between Paul Goodhand
, Niall Jackson
and Jamie Loftus
saw the later with space on the left and his cross picked out Aaron McKenzie
who scored from 6 yards. 1-4 51 minutes. Boro had to wait till the 76th minute to add a second, Josh Stark
finding space and time at the back post from Brad Elliott's free kick to make it 2-4 with 14 minute left. Boro had a couple of half chances but failed to score any more and the game ended seeing North Somercotes move onto the semi final.
No official Lucarly's Man of the Match as of yet.
So now my thoughts. A tough week for the Boro lads with Scott stepping down and I think it showed today. Something is missing at the moment and i don't know what it is. The football is good, the lads are together and are happy but nothing is going right. Somercotes's third goal sums it up, if that had been at the other end the ball would have gone wide rather than into the net.
So next week its a trip to Mablethorpe in another cup competition, hopefully things will be a bit better and i will be writing about a win. #OneBoro
