Tour to the Netherlands?
Are you organizing a Tour for your rugby club or team and you are not quite sure where to go? Why don't you come to Holland and have a great time, especially here in Groningen. The Groninger Student Rugby Club always enjoy having touring teams at our clubhouse. Several teams have visited us from different countries and after the match it has always been a great moment to sing some songs and getting to know each other over some beers.
First of all, why Groningen? Groningen is one of the biggest student cities in the Netherlands. Out of 165.000 people living in Groningen over 40.000 are students. This means the city centre is always busy with people going out and having a good time. Bars and clubs are all in the city centre of Groningen and literally never close. The ones that do close do so at around six so there is plenty of time to enjoy Heineken beer and jenever. The free Dutch mentality means you'll probably have loads of people asking where you're from and wanting to know more about rugby since rugby is a relative small sport in Holland.
Second, we can assist you in finding a good hotel and/or other facilities in the area. Furthermore, we can show you the best bars and best restaurants ourselves since we usually like to join touring teams to show them around in the city.
We usually arrange lunch and a bbq after the game. Nothing better than a lot of meat and beers after a nice game of rugby. If you want to you can stay all night and have beers with us at our clubhouse the Ascot Manor II. There we will teach you some of our drinking games that god forbid. Most of us speak English, German and some of us even some French.
We are a student rugby club which was founded in 1986. We currently have two teams that both play in the 3rd division North. We have around 60 members ranging from fanatic rugby players to recreational players. Feel free to send us an e-mail or call us if you have any questions and if you're interested in coming over.
