Guernsey 1st XV 40 – 3 Basingstoke

A great way to end 2011 at Footes Lane as Guernsey sign off in style !!

Guernsey 1st XV 40 – 3 Basingstoke
Guernsey romped into an early lead in their London 1 South encounter with Basingstoke.

Centre Luke Sayer was at the heart of the action with two penalties and a try as the club went into a 16-0 lead against the team who were one place above them in the league.

A Basingstoke penalty made the score 16-3 but Guernsey stretched their lead to 21-3 with an Andy Bailey try just before the half-time whistle. Just two minutes into the second half Bailey touched down again to make the score 26-3 and a further Guernsey try and conversion made it 33-3. In the last moments of the game Andy Bailey got a hat-trick which was converted.

GRUFC now lie fourth in London 1 South, two points ahead of Basingstoke and within five points of Chichester at the top of the table.
