Dear Members and Friends of Guildford Rugby Club,
Upon the arrival of the new season, I would like to begin by stating what an honour it is to be Club Captain for the 5th year here at GRFC. I hope to play my part in ensuring that the forthcoming season is a successful one, both on and off the pitch and look forward to working with you all to making this season a great one.
Last season saw the 1st XV returned to National 3 (now Premiere South East) and provided a great account of ourselves, the 2nd XV performed well in the highly competitive Canterbury/Zoo Shield League. The Blue Bears (3rd XV) continued their revival last year against some very strong opposition. Our Vets team pushed the league very hard and won the Surrey Cup, along with our women's side the Gazelles winning the Surrey CUP and establishing themselves as a tough team in the 3rd tier of Women's rugby.
The biggest accolade last season has to go to our U18’ side who won the National Colts CUP!!! Well done lads.
Obviously there has been a little rugby over the summer down in New Zealand, where our very own coach Kyle Sinckler pulled on a test jersey 3 times to help the Lions draw the series. Well done Sinck, proud to have you a part of our club.
There have been some changes to the senior coaching team for the new season; Topsy Ojo has joined as Men’s Back Coach - Welcome to the club! Mark Covington returns as the Matchday Coach for the 1st XV, with Mike Burden assisting. Charlie Maguire & John Hatcher will be coaching the 2nd XV this season.

We are running a competition for our Youth and Minis members to re-design our Club playing kit, still incorporating the same colours and Club badge; we welcome all new designs to be sent into me via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The Board will select the best new design and the winner will receive a signed Harlequins shirt!!! Good luck.
There are so many people at this Club that give their time to help the Mini’s right through to the vets to ensure the enjoyment of rugby is had by all. As a volunteer, I would like to thank the many other fellow volunteers that help make this Club so successful and run so well – without you and your support we would not have the fantastic Club that we have today.
We should all continue to promote and live by the core values of rugby, ie teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline, and sportsmanship, these values and our volunteers make our Club and our sport so special. Thank you.
This is a very exciting time to be involved with the Club, I firmly believe that we are on the threshold of achieving even greater things than we have before. I look forward with excitement and anticipation not only to next season but to the years ahead……………
Look forward seeing you all down at the club
