History
The club was formed in December 2008 with the aim to have the official launch on the 21st February 2009. The co-founders of the club Alex Maguire and Brian Stokes both have previous experience playing rugby league but wanted to reduce their travelling as both played long distances away from their home town. The idea was supported by Matt Ward and Chris Greatorex and the first meeting was formed. Since the first meeting things are moving along at great speed with Guildford RUFC agreeing to use of their pitches and club house through the summer months. The RFL representative for the South east helped the club enter the London Amateur league for season one. We are keen to develop the game of rugby league in the South East and hope to have a youth set up in the next few years.
In 2009 the Giants lost in the semifinal of the grand final but in 2010 reached the final only to come off second best. Also 2010 saw the start of our minis which we hope will continue to increase in 2011.
