Guilsfield 5 Llanrhaeadr Y.M. 0
Guils back to winning ways
Guilsfield shook off last weekend's defeat at Ruthin with an impressive performance against in-form Llanrhaeadr. There was a different look to the side with Chris Cathrall and Curtis Weetman sidelined and Jack Harris unavailable to start the match. Danny Barton was introduced to the front line to give the side a physical presence and this proved to be a smart move by manager Nathan Leonard. Captain Robbie James returned to the side after missing the last game.
The Guils came out of the blocks with the intention to redeem themselves and showed a positive intent from the first minute with evergreen Danny Barton unsettling the back four. Guilsfield's slick passing had their opponents rattled and early chances fell to Adam Jenkins, who was foiled by a smart save from Connor Lee, and Robbie James who saw his header come off the post inside the first 10 minutes.
Guilsfield took the lead on 16 minutes with Adam Jenkins unsettling the Llan keeper and tappping the fumbled ball into the net. Guilsfield doubled their advantage on 27 mins with Danny Barton's free kick taking a wicked deflection to wrong foot the keeper. Guilsfield took a deserved 2-0 lead into the break.
Steve Blenkinsop capped a fine game by scoring his first goal in Guilsfield colours on 54 mins by slotting home jenkins' unselfish pass. Jack Richards scored a rare goal with a good finish four minutes later after Barton's strike was parried out to Jack. Blenkinsop sealed the victory with a smart header from Jack Harris' cross from the right on 78 mins. Guilsfield were able to introduce Sam Litchfield into the final minutes for his first game in months as Llan finished the match with ten men after the late dismissal of Tom Bailey.
