Unbeaten run ends
Guilsfield 0 Porthmadog 2
Guilsfield failed to extend its recent unbeaten run with this home defeat against a confident Porthmadog side.
Porthmadog came out of the blocks and their frontrunners were causing us problems early on. Cavanagh failed to find the target when clean through on 14 mins and Gibbs' shot came off the underside of the crossbar and bounced away on 18 mins.
Guilsfield had a golden chance to punish Port for their misses on 19 mins after Adam Jenkins had been fouled in the penalty area but Steve Blenkinsop's tame shot was saved by Pritchard. The game was played with high energy and both keepers were kept busy. The half time whistle came to end a frenetic first period with the score at 0-0.
Guilsfield should have had the ascendancy in the first part of the second half with some great chances falling to Adam and Sam Litchfield. However, great saves by Pritchard and a goal line clearance from James, which came off the defender's hand, kept us at bay. Guilsfield's midfeidl was disrupted with both Richards and Cathrall having to leave the field. The changes and the early misses came back to bite us in the final 15 mins as first Iwan Lewis struck from the edge of the box and then Shaun Cavanagh doubled the away side's advantage.
This game swung one way and then the other, and on another day the result could have been different. A cracking game of football with both sides having a real go to play entertaining football. Final score 0-2.
Team: Jones, Bromley, Parry, Rogers, Litchfield, James, Jenkins, Ford, Blenkinsop, Cathrall, Richards. Subs: Weetman (Richards), Harris (Cathrall), Clifton (Parry).
