Bad day at the office
Prestatyn Town 4 Guilsfield 0
This result summed up our season so far - inconsistent. After last Saturday's super-human efforts against The Nomads, we came crashing down to earth with a flat performance against improving Prestatyn Town.
The game was played in foul conditions with strong winds and a cold rain lashing down the pitch, and the home side adapted better to the test in the opening minutes with an early lead. Guilsfield got back into the game with a couple of shots cleared off the line before being hit with a long ball sucker punch which sailed over the rearguard for the forward to slot home. Guilsfield were then denied a penalty after a great save from the home side's full back.
The second half should have seen Guilsfield using the conditions behind their backs but this failed to materialise as Prestatyn added a third early in the second half. Stuart Rogers was then replaced by Nathan Leonard, who was struggling with a niggling hamstring. With Andy Ford unavailable for the game, the Guils looked disjointed and were unable to get back into the match, despite a Cathrall shot hitting the crossbar. The home side finished us off on 80 mins with their fourth goal.
To add insult to injury the shivering players returned to the away dressing room to find the showers had packed up. Enough said!
