GRUFC Under 15s return home after securing a 34 - 5 win against Mississauga Blues.

The Under 15s secured an impressive win against the Mississauga Blues to end a great tour on a high. SCORE 34 - 5
It was touch and go whether the match would go ahead as we arrived 20 minutes after the scheduled kick off due to mix up on postcodes. But great credit to our hosts as they held back senior matches to ensure we completed our 3 match Tour series.
So it was a focussed 10 minute warm up on a great playing surface and then game on.
And it was the forwards who took charge from the off with some determined driving and rucking but always trying to keep the ball alive too. The early skirmishes showed we had the power and determination to keep the Blues on the backfoot and we looked a very well organised team.
And so it wasn't long before the first try. A well worked move within the forwards saw Ding Dong power over the line. The backs then started to punch more holes in the Blues defence but also sniffed out any Blues threat with some determined tackling from all of them.
With the Line Out and Scrums now working superbly it was clear we had the upper had in all departments and so 3 more first half tries followed with scorers Luke Cox, Lloyd Russell and Sam Faulkner. Sam's try was a real highlight as he took a great offload before beating 2 men with hand offs and sheer determination. Unfortunately 'Trigger Robson' didn't have his kicking boots and on his first attempted conversion put grass stains on the ball rather than the ball through the posts. Cracking grubber kick Robbo.
So at half time it was 22 - 0 to Gizzy and things looked all good.
At the start of the second half we rang the changes with even the casualty ward keen to get on. Joe Parkin and Alex Mackay entered the fray and then Luke 'Lazarus' Robinson who played in spite of his ankle injury which he incurred on the last Wednesday training session. The match still needed to be won however and with everyone on song we scored two further tries through a cheeky pick up by Robbo and a powerful run by Will Preston.
Blues showed superb commitment to grab a last minute try in the corner and then it was the final whistle. Final score 34 -5. Man of the match was Tom Pajak as voted by the Blues but Jonno Bell was also immense during the match with a barnstorming performance.
A great win to end a fantastic tour. So we take away 2 wins and a loss on our 3 match tour. We also have hundreds of fantastic memories of the places we have visited and all the people we have met and all the fun and excitement we had along the way.
Massive thanks to all those who made it possible - you know who you are.
Finally, to all the lads - you have proved that you can be a very good team. We can have a little rest and then lets go again. Cheers lads we are all very proud of you. A credit to the club.
