Gunners Retain The Heroes Trophy in Epic Encounter Royal Artillery RL v Nottingham Outlaws RL
The 2011 campaign started with the annual charity match between the Nottingham Outlaws and the Royal Artillery at the Harvey Hadden Stadium the new home of the Outlaws. It was the first time rugby league had been played there since former professional side Nottingham City were the residents more than 15 years ago. Although the game was a charity match by name it was by no means by nature. Once again the crowd were treated to a classic match of rugby league which at times was a highly charged affair. The final score saw the Gunners edge the contest 27-24 to claim their first silverware of the season and retain the trophy which was presented to the Gunners skipper Andy Gray by guest of honour Bradford Bulls prop forward Tom Burgess. .

Gunners Maintain Winning Run in Pre-season Fixture
For the first time in 4 years the Royal Artillery beat the Royal Logistic Corps in a tasty encounter at Buckley Barracks. Although this was a pre-season match it allowed the Gunners the opportunity to make amends for last seasons defeat in round 4 of the Lawson Cup. Both teams fielded their strongest possible sides available but it was the Royal Artillery who came out on top with a convincing 40-12 victory. .
