History - History 1
The Gwent Tigers Australian Rules Football Club was formed at the end of the 2008 season and entered the Welsh Australian Rules Football League (WARFL). We took on the Gwent traditional colours of amber and black and the mascot of Tigers from our partner club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) Glenelg Tigers.
Our home ground in 2009 was at Caerleon RFC, with former South Cardiff players Paul Mackenzie Cummins taking charge as club President and David James as captain.
We played our inaugural match in May 2009 against the South Cardiff Panthers in round 1 of the Premiership and played a total of 12 matches in that season finishing fourth.
