Gwent Tigers Australian Rules Football Club

We had injuries, lack of key personal and player unavailability which certainly hampered our efforts. We couldn’t quite put together a consistent team from week to week which was disappointing as we have a talented and enthusiastic squad.

Even so our young and inexperienced players put themselves on the line every match gaining knowledge and confidence each round and the future looks very bright for 2011. With so many young players showing a lot a promise this season we’ll no doubt be a successful club for many years to come.


Now with the season over we take time to honour and reward the players and officials from the Tigers who put a lot of time and effort in either on or off the pitch and in some cases both.

This year the Awards & Presentation Night will be held from 7pm on Monday 29th November downstairs at our new club venue, Wetherspoon's The Queen's Hotel, which is located right in the heart of Newport.


The individual awards for 2010 are:

* Clubman Award
* Leading goal scorer
* Rookie of the Year (best first year player)
* Club Best & Fairest


We will also be unavailing next year’s kit and announcing our new home ground for 2011, which will be a big step in gaining a long term base and a venue the opposition clubs will fear in seasons to come.

The Gwent Tigers also like to thank all the players, volunteers and supporters for your support this year and very much looking forward to having everyone back and more for another season. Hopefully we'll win the 2011 Premiership and bring it home to Gwent for the first time in our short history.
