Yorkshire man Charlie enjoyed a short stint with the club in the early 50s whilst doing his national service locally in the RAF.
A fine centre, he liked to say that he helped Ron Glasgow get capped since when Ron came back to the team as a centre, he was moved to the flank to accommodate Charlie.
Charlie clearly loved his time at HRFC famously stating "HRFC taught me how to enjoy life" and going on to have 3 sons, Duncan, Scott and Andy all fine Scottish names.
Following his return to England he kept in touch with his old teammates and was a regular at the annual Old Goats Lunch, coming up from York on the train.
A very fit man, he ran everywhere, even in his 80s.
He will be sadly missed.
Funeral arrangements to follow.
