The Mighty 3rds 34 Dalkeith 2nds 12
The Mighty 3rds carried on their unbeaten start to the season with a fine win over Dalkeith 2nds at the School.
Whilst survivor of the Haddington/Melrose semi of a few years ago Scott Wight was languishing in the Heineken Cup for Glasgow, two reds stalwarts of that game Bob Snodgrass and Gary Glass reached the dizzy heights of the Mighty 3rds.
Snodgrass helped himself to a two try man of the match performance and Glass helped himself to the pies and the captains armband.
It was a typical 3rds display of hard driving in the forwards where Glass, Snodgrass, Boardman, Mitchell and Mainstone showed well for their age, and some simple direct workin the backs.
Dalkeith had some strong running backs which kept the 3rds on their toes. Having been reffed by Old Father Times dad Ian Goodall two weeks ago, Dalkeith featured his Grandad, Dave Dalgleish, that well known troll and teenager of the 1960s.
Others scorers were The Prince, Smoking Joe Boardman (2), and Jamesie,
Scotty Brownlee got two conversions, a huge improvement on last week, and if reports are to be believed* made three try saving tackles.
Nice moment was Daniel "little puff" Boardman coming on to join his Dad Smoking Joe.
Report again filed in absentia by GPS
* In a week of reports of records for hot air balloons, this may be another one.
