Hadley Wood & Wingate 3 - 0 Hinton
Hadley Wood return to winning ways in HSCL
Hadley Wood & Wingate racked off another home victory with a 3-0 win over Hinton at the Harry Abrahams Stadium with three second half goals proving the difference for the home side.
It was a largely uneventful first half with no action of note until 30 minutes into the game when Joe Killingback forced the Hinton goalkeeper into a good save. A minute later the deadlock was almost broken when a long ball over the top put Khalil Zakkour through on goal from the half line way. The Hinton keeper came rushing out and made the tackle on Zakkour only for the ball to fall to Lewis Jones who attempted to score from 40 yards. With the ball going wide, Alfie Bertram collected the ball and with the goal at his mercy could only strike it against the post.
The first half came to a close with more chances for Hadley Wood but they could not hit the back of the net. The second half started like the first had finished but with one difference, a goal for Hadley Wood & Wingate. Hector Mackie sent a ball over the defence to Harrison Georgiou on the right hand side of the box. He crosses to low to Lewis Jones who made no mistake with the finish for 1-0 on 56 minutes.
The second followed six minutes later when a superb cross from the left by Joe Foley found the chest of Georgiou who brought the ball down and slotted it into the net. A minute later it was nearly 3-0 when a free kick right on the edge of the Hinton box was smashed hard by Mackie but hit the post and went wide. However, from the resulting goal kick the third came. It was a poor kick from the Hinton keeper which sailed low and straight to Mackie who slid the ball to Alfie Bartram on the edge of the box. With the keeper rushing off his line Bartram tried to lob him but the attempt was weak. However, Bartram was able to retrieve the ball and square to Jones to tap it into an empty net.
Hadley Wood & Wingate next travel to Ware Sports Club on Saturday 24th October hoping to make an improvement on their away form.
