After a bright start at The Beaconsfield on Tuesday, Hailsham went behind early on when Wallace was given far too much time to head home from a left-wing cross on 7 minutes. Soon after the goal though, there was action at the other end with the visitors' tall 'keeper, Rob O'Hara, forced to get down low to save well from Leach before the striker saw a close range finish ruled out by an offside flag. After early promise though, the visitors won a 22nd minute penalty, converted with a deft finish by Josh Cowlson. Jamie Salvidge then had a clear-cut chance for the visitors - springing the offside trap with a great run, but was denied by O'Hara when inside the box. With Hailsham still probing, a second penalty two minutes before the break saw Cowlson add his second in the same somewhat cheeky fashion as the first.

Hailsham's hope of a positive start to the second half would be dashed on 48 - Cowlson completing his hatrick with a shot from the edge of the box. Lingfield twice hit the bar as the game went on - but the better chances fell to Hailsham, with Saunders, the again-impressive subsitute Morgan, Alexander and Leach all coming close - the Stringers also having what looked like a very good penalty shout for handball waved away late on.

Hailsham: Jenner, D Stevens (Morgan), Blaney (Ottley), Lewis, A Jarvis, S Stevens, Salvidge (Alexander), Fletcher, Leach, saunders, T Jarvis

Next up for Hailsham is Saturday's visit of Greenwich Borough in the FA Cup - the Kent league side finished 16th in their division last season, and could add a touch of glamour to proceedings with actors Danny Dyer and Tamer Hussan behind the scenes. Should the game end with a draw, the replay would be on Wednesday 15th at Holmesdale FC, who Greenwich groundshare with.
