Halifax ended the season with back to back tournaments at Arcadia and with manager Chris Sanderson unavailable Sue Hare stepped into the breach.

The first match on Saturday was a tough game against an excellent Plymouth A team. Halifax battled hard throughout and lost the services of Angus Fenney in the first half, who was unlucky to be caught by a nasty blow to the face. Despite a hard working defensive display, with a telling contribution from Will Collins and a strong performance from goalkeeper Joe Codling, Halifax went down by a score of 5-0. Their second game was against a depleted Spen Valley Flyers but Halifax suffered a poor start, going behind 4-0 early in the first half. Halifax rallied and put in a much better second half performance but were unable to breach the opposition goal and eventually went down by the now familiar 5-0 scoreline. Their last game of the day was against Manchester B and Halifax finally broke their duck with 2 goals by Angus Fenney (recovered from his earlier knock) and a deserved goal for the tireless birthday girl Hannah Codling. With the scoreline tied at 3-3 in the closing stages the game was wide open, with captain for the day Ben Oldroyd, Adam Hare and James Hare all going close for Halifax, and Will Collins and Joe Codling keeping Manchester at bay at the other end. The game ended 3-3 which was a fair result for an excellent match and a good way to finish the day for Halifax.

With Hanna and Angus unable to play on the Sunday the Halifax team was boosted by the arrival of Oliver Holden and Eddie Shaw, with Eddie making his long awaited tournament debut. It was a baptism of fire for Eddie against an excellent Manchester A side but he did well as Halifax put in another hard-working display before going down (yet again) 5-0. The next game against Plymouth B provided a welcome victory as Halifax ran out comfortable 8-0 winners with a hat-trick for Adam Hare, 2 goals each for Ben Oldroyd and captain for the day Oliver Holden with James Hare picking up the other goal. Halifax were unable to maintain their winning run against Middlesbrough in the next game though, this time going down 6-0. The last fixture for Halifax was a re-match against Manchester B following the 3-3 draw the previous day. In another tight encounter Halifax registered 2 goals through Oliver Holden and Ben Oldroyd. Halifax were behind in the closing stages and pressing hard but despite creating numerous chances were unable to rescue the game and ended the day with a 4-2 defeat.

Overall it was an excellent and enjoyable two days which was well hosted and featured great performances from the match referees. The efforts of all of the Halifax players and the support provided by the parents did the club proud so well done to all, with a special well done to ‘Player of the Weekend’ Will Collins.
