Hall Road Rangers will be looking to exact revenge over Selby Town in their first game of 2017 on Monday as the teams engage in the reverse holiday season fixture. Rangers travelled to Selby in their last game of 2016 and despite leading 0-1 at half time saw goals from Josh O’Neill and Liam Flanagan cancel out their winning advantage to go down 2-1.
After the defeat Manager Dave Ricardo was disappointed with his sides performance
“It is disappointing that despite us taking the lead, we've failed to get going in the second half and the two goals we have conceded are particularly sloppy. Our second half performance simply wasn't good enough.” Said Ricardo after the game.
Ricardo will be heartened by the fact that after a defeat this season Rangers have always bounced back to get points in their next fixture “ the lads have always responded well after a set-back and we are yet to lose consecutive games in the league.” He furthered “I have no doubt judging by their reaction we will see a much improved performance as we'll be keen to get the right result in the return fixture” he concluded.
Rangers are still in limbo awaiting a decision from the NCEL regarding their aborted game against Shirebrook Town. Hopes are that the league will see sense and that they will be given the points and the win earned for their dominance and 3-0 lead in the first half.
With a near full strength squad going into the fixture Ricardo will be hopeful that home advantage will play a big part in his Hall Road side claiming the three points.
Kick off against Selby will be 3pm at Haworth Park on Monday with Rangers still offering a free pint to any Hull City FC pass holders than shows their pass at the game upon entry.
