Newly Selected Captain’s Call..

As I enter into my 6th season as a Don, it gives me great pride to be announced as First Team Captain.

Having worked my way up the ranks from the reserves it shows the progression the club is willing to give to its players- as long as you’re prepared to put the effort and commitment in!

A huge thanks and respect goes to our departing Captain Neil Evans.
Neil lead by example through his outstanding displays week in week out and has been exceptional for the club. Neil will be missed greatly amongst this squad. We hope to see him continue his playing days with our Vets.

It’s no secret the club is growing both on and off the pitch. The vets got to a Cup Final, the A Team to a Semi Final, the Reserves to another Final & the First Team a Semi Final.
We continue to grow off the field too by improving the clubhouse, pitch and sponsorship deals.

This upcoming season is of course big, like any other season for Hambledon, but this season is an even bigger season in my eyes.
The club belongs in the higher divisions. Matt Kiley and Co have continued to grow this great local club and it now deserves to take its place in the Premier Division.

I have seen a hunger in my team mates eyes this pre season like none before. A desire to succeed & achieve something. Yes it’s early doors in terms of preparation but we’re well underway and the commitment so far has been good.
Players know they have to work hard and earn their place in the First Team Squad and it seems they’re all willing to do just that.

I’ll bring leadership, calmness, commitment & desire to all of our training sessions and games, including support & encouragement to every player at this club. I’ll also be calling on the likes of Josh, Ian, Luffy, Paul, Rob, Jack (Xavi), Tom, Seb, Kuda & of course our Player Manager Will to be leaders on and off the pitch to help us achieve our goal- Promotion.
I have named a full team there, myself included. That just shows the kind of squad we have because there are 7 or 8 other players I haven’t mentioned who offer other qualities to the squad. We have the quality, the experience, the youth, and yes the hunger in those eyes to succeed.

Quality alone doesn’t achieve success. Hard work, commitment, togetherness and a bond between this squad will ensure we achieve our goal.

We’ll give it everything until the very end.
