Surrey Youth County Cup First Round
Sunday 1-10-17 Windlesham United v HRBFC U16 Bucks
It was a dull Sunday morning with rain constantly threatening as we visited Windesham United U16 Wanderers in the first round of the Surrey Youth County Cup. However the day was brightened by the boys playing great football from the first whistle right the way until the final whistle was blown. The match saw some great passing and the boys playing as a team.
Will was in goal supported by Matt James Zac and Nick in defence.
Mid field was Joe Rory Majd and George with Charlie and Josh up front. The boys supported each other well, covering when required.
George has an attempt at goal that sadly just went past the front of the goal, as did Windlesham's shot at goal fifteen minutes into the game.
Fantastic passing from the boys saw Josh get in position to score but the keeper saves the ball to deny us a first goal.
Several attempts to score were made by the boys but to no avail the ball just wouldn't go in!
Then, twenty five minutes into the game, lady luck was on our side; George's attempt on goal was saved by Windlesham's goalkeeper but sadly for the opposition their goalie dropped the ball into the net 0-1.
There was a great passage of play for a second goal scored by Charlie 0-2. It was only shortly after that Windlesham had a shot on target that was saved by Will in a stunning dive for the ball which kept the score at 0-2.
A goal kick from Will was brilliantly intercepted by Joe to kick it down the field for Josh who had a shot at goal, which was once again saved by the opposition keeper.
The boys started the second half well; minutes in there was a free kick taken by Joe. However Windlesham got hold of the ball and had a shot at goal saved by the defence team.
Matt goes off fifteen minutes into second half leaving the boys managing with 10 men. They rise to the challenge and kept up the momentum. Josh scores eighteen minutes into second half to bring the score to 0-3. There was a great header by Nick who had run up from defence which sadly went just over the top of the goal. However, not disheartened, there is a superb goal from Majd who saw an opportunity and struck the ball between the Windelsham defence, 0-4.
Ten minutes later Majd had a shot on target saved by the Windlesham keeper. This was shortly followed him a goal from George who ran past the defence to score 0-5.
In the last quarter of the game Will and the defence team work hard together and keep the ball out to deny Windlesham a goal.
The score stays at 0-5, well done boys, off to the second round.
