Hampton Bucks Under U8's secure another victory
Rocks Lane v Hampton RB Youths U8's
Hampton started in commanding form against a hard-working Rocks Lane side. The game was only a few minutes old when Alfie opened the scoring with a crisp left footed shot the went in via the post. At the other end, Rocks Lane's first attack was thwarted by a great piece of goalkeeping from Jake. Hampton continued to attack with Alfie, Chester, Archie and Barney all linking up well, but the Bucks saw chance after chance go begging and another rare attack by Rocks Lane saw Hampton pegged back as the home team scored against the run of play to make it 1-1. Hampton went back on the attack, but were left frustrated as Rocks Lane scored another goal with the last kick of the quarter, from a dubious free kick to go into the break 2-1 ahead.
Hampton started the second quarter on fire and were soon on level terms when Archie turned his marker with a lovely piece of skill and curled a low right footed shot in off the post to make it 2-2. Hampton were soon on the attack again and Cam cut in from the right wing, turned a defender inside out with some lovely footwork and hit a peach of a shot into the top corner for 3-2. Archie then picked out Alfie, who beat his markers and rifled home to make it 4-2. Hampton seemed to be in total control with Louis in commanding form at the back, snuffing out any rare attacks in the Hampton half. But Rocks Lane were nothing if not resilient and managed to snatch another goal late in the quarter to bring the scores to 4-3.
The third quarter saw Hampton immediately open up another two goal cushion. Louis’s corner was palmed out by the keeper to the edge of the area and Chester made no mistake with a sweet half volley into the roof of the net for 5-3. Rocks Lane went back on the attack themselves and nearly pulled a goal back, but Jake pulled off a fantastic one handed save to deny them. A minute later though they did score with a superb lob that gave Jake no chance. Rocks Lane were right back in it with the score now at 5-4. Hampton were again left frustrated and only a fine tackle from Barney made sure the teams didn’t head into the break all square.
The final quarter saw Hampton press the play and they got an immediate reward as Archie’s shot sneaked in off the post after some good work from Alfie to make it 6-5. The bucks were soon further in front as Cam robbed a defender on the edge of the area and hammered a shot into the net to make it 7-5. But Rocks Lane still had another goal in the locker and duly scored another late goal to make a final score of 7-6.
