Monster Mash

Mash up!

A Hearts All-Stars team kindly asked the Colts to take part in a friendly and we obliged with a local derby of sorts over at Carlisle Park, Hampton. The pitch was bumpy and outline of the pitch hard to see however the boys adapted to the makeshift environment and uneven surface with aplomb! Never once does this set of boys grumble with the conditions of play, stoic to a degree ha ha.

It was difficult to take much from a game which seemed to be controlled by someone that had rigged the ball with a device that ensured neither team would be allowed to play with it. Yes it bobbled; curtseyed, triple somersaulted throughout the hour leaving both teams exhausted and bemused to discover an eventual score line of 2 to 3, the mighty Hampton Youth Colts taking the victory!

Indeed it was in August 1962 that Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers released the song Monster Mash and it is with tune I bow out and say farewell to the 2015/16 football season.

They played the mash
They played the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They played the mash
It caught on in a flash
They played the mash
They played the monster mash
