Club History

Harborne Youth FC is an established grass roots football club founded in 2007, with the aim of providing a safe, fun, competitive football club for young people in the Harborne area of the city of Birmingham. We have over 100 youngsters from the age of 6 up to 16, training regularly and representing the club in the Central Warwickshire Youth League and the Sandwell Minor League.

The club has evolved from a few dads and lads having a kick around with their football mad sons in Lightwoods Park on a Saturday, to having 7 teams competing in league football. The club annually has an end of season tour – attended by many players and parents at The ESF festival at Butlins Minehead.

The club is run by a committed group of volunteers both on and off the pitch. Club officials and parents who generously give of their time to coach the young players and administer the club. The club is aiming to achieve FA Charter Standard, to enable the club to continue to grow and offer football to as many young people as possible in the area. The club is working closely with Lordswood Girls & Boys School and we believe that Football should be played for fun, with discipline and integrity upholding the FA’s Respect campaign. Our players respect their opponents, the referee, teammates, spectators and volunteers. Boys have developed strong friendships, good skills and positive characteristics through training and playing together. We are proud to be known as a club that both conducts itself and competes to a high standard, encouraging players to be decent human beings as well as good footballers.

All our coaches are CRB/ DBS checked and have gained or working towards FA accredited coaching badges, so that are players are nurtured from a young age to play the game as it should be played – fairly, with fun and the chance to compete with others of similar ability. We aim to provide the local community with access to good playing and training facilities in a safe, friendly environment. The next few years will be an exciting journey for this developing football club.
