Haringey U17s vs Harrow
Following a late Kick off due to pitch restrictions, Rhinos started the game well and a good intense chase forced a turn over which lead to Rhinos spreading the ball out wide quickly and getting the ball to full back Stuart, who ghosted through a gap in defence and raced to the line and open the scoring with just over a minute played.
The next fifteen minutes saw both teams play some powerful rugby but the error count gradually rose thanks to the now pouring rain. The forwards were in for a tough day and The Rhinos rose to the challenge and dominated the scrum. Following another powerful rhinos scrum, a quick break from Rhinos scrum half Stanley, a quick ruck and good hands from the resulting breakdown saw winger John race in to score the Rhinos second try.
Rhinos continued to press the visitors and following an infringement at the breakdown, a quick tap and go from ever alert fullback Stuart, saw him race 60 meters to score his second try of the game. Haringey finished the half leading 15-0.
Harrow started the second half stronger and pressured the Rhinos into mistakes and numerous penalties. Rhinos were reduced to 14 men after one of the forwards saw yellow. Harrow continued to drive the Rhinos back and kept the hosts in their 22 for long periods. Heroic tackling from men-of-the-match Denzel and Hassan kept the visitors at bay. Eventually, Haringey were able to force a turn over, clear their lines, work the phases up the pitch and in a sweeping move that saw all 14 players get their hands on the ball, with the try line and a single player in his way, Stephen unselfishly passed to fullback Stuart who crossed the line from close range to score his third try of the day, with George adding the conversion.
From the kickoff, Harrow pressured the Rhinos into a knock on. Rhinos won the scrum against the head and number seven Luke showed great awareness to gather the ball, run up the blindside and offload in the tackle to scrum half Stanley who showed a brilliant turn of pace to sprint 50 meters and score between the posts. Once again George added the two point to increase the Rhinos lead.
All action Stanley gathered the Harrow kick off, set up a ruck and after a couple of strong runs from Firat and Rinaldo, fed the ball to Onnur who blasted through a gap in defence, showed great pace and deft hands as his well timed pass put winger Toshane into space and he was not going to caught (even by his support players) as he ran in the Rhinos final try from the half way line. George once again adding the extras.
Harrow showed great skill and stubborn determination as they kept pressing the Rhinos and after putting together 17 phases and strong running, they broke through the green wall and scored with the last play of the game.
Final score: Haringey 36 - Harrow 5
Despite the wet conditions both teams played some great rugby and showed they are both in for good season
