Rhinos run off with a win

Haringey Rhinos v London French

The beaming October sunshine was to be telling of things to come for the Rhinos as they took the field for their home clash against London French this Saturday afternoon. Despite hurried preparations, the men’s first XV started the outing with a vengeance, with a stolen kickoff and some strong carries from the indomitable Rhinos pack resulting in an early penalty against Les Bleus, comfortably converted by Kicker Alex Hull. The lead was quickly matched however, with French capitalising on what was to be the first of many highly contentious calls from the referee to tie the game. Star centre Dwight Caulker however ensured the rhinos lead was quickly returned, finessing several would be tacklers on the way to a magnificent solo try from 60m out. The remainder of the first half was a hotly contested affair, and with questionable penalties adding up, the away side managed to score two consecutive tries to take the lead going into the break.

Strong halftime talk from coach Darran reignited the somewhat quelled rhinos fire to reopen the game. The Rhinos unification in executing their gameplan began to wear down the French defence, allowing Haringey’s young promising backline to mercilessly attack the wider channels, resulting in a barrage of unanswered tries. First year winger Kimoy powered through his opposite number on the way to scoring 5 in the corner, while far side winger Dom Dyer touched down under the posts off a move following a near length of the field interception. Man of the match Dwight completed his hat trick, scoring a pair in the second half, including a contested catch and run off a sublimely weighted cross field kick from loose head prop Aiden Keenan Morrison, seeing off the clash and giving a new home to champagne rugby.

Final score:
Haringey Rhinos 36 - 20 London French
