Many thanks to Jackie Knight for stepping in at the last minute due to a late call off by the planned speaker. Thanks also to Bruce Aitchison for making the journey from the borders up to Dundee to entertain us. His bright red tartan suit was something to behold and it was somewhat surprising that none of the other speakers mentioned it !!!. Since then, Colin Gourley has received a message from Bruce Aitchison thanking us for the invite to speak at the dinner and how impressed he was with the spirit in the club and how he thought the club was ready to get stronger in the future. Ian Scanlin, a former Harris FP Coach (..and Captain of Dundee High FP) was pleased to note that the Dinner revolved very much round the players which he thought was a very healthy sign.
Colin also had an email from Westpark thanking us for our custom and advising we are welcome back due to the good behaviour (and probably the sums of cash spent).
It was a strange situation at the West Park Centre on Saturday with two Rugby Clubs having their Dinners on the same night and the same place. However, all went well and I believe there was great camaraderie between the Dundee High FP boys and the Harris boys (..and fossils!). Unfortunately, the drinking prowess of Harris was found wanting with the High winning the inevitable 'Boat Race'. More practice required boys !!!
Lastly, many congratulations to the Club Trophy Winners for the Season -
Player's Player of the Year : Stewart Walker
Most improved Player of the Year : Andy Quinn
