Harrogate Cricket Club

Welcome to Harrogate Cricket Club- Junior Section! We are a thriving Junior section made up of children from 6 to 17. Children are drawn from all over Harrogate and they attend many of the primary and secondary schools in and around Harrogate. Training is provided throughout the year by our dedicated volunteer coaches without whom it would be impossible to provide 190 Juniors with the expert training they receive. Children train in the Summer on Saturday morning (9am to 12pm)- U7’S- U13’S. The Older children train on Friday evenings (u15’s) and Thursdays (u17’s). The season starts in April and league matches are played until the end of July. In August we have our cricket school which runs for two weeks. We also have a school at Whitsuntide (half term holiday 4 days) Children are welcome of all abilities and levels; we have North Yorkshire players at U13 and U15 level and District and League players at u11, u13 , u15 and u17 levels. We also have children who just want to play the game with their friends or enjoy the training. In terms of Coaches there are now 15 ECB Level Two qualified coaches and a number of Level One coaches. We employ a professional coach, Andy Hawkswell, who is overseeing the training of the higher achievers and the coaches! Steve Clark is the chairman of the Junior Section and plays for the Harrogate Development Team on Saturday afternoons – this team is made up of many juniors, from U13 upwards. The Club are also helped by Mike Bore (Ex Yorkshire) who has many years of experience and currently works in training young (and not so young) players. There is a lot going on at Harrogate CC with a new Pavilion, Yorkshire Women and Girls now based at St George's Road, and non-turf net facilities to be installed over the 2011-2012 winter.
