Past President of our Club and a "true gentleman" died this morning in hospital

It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the death of our past President Michael Lonsdale and at 89 our oldest member, who died this morning in Watford General Hospital

Michael, first a player in the 1950s, was President of our Club from 1985 to 1988. He lived on his own and fell at his home in Radlett last Monday and was only able to get to his phone some two days later to call for help. He was taken to Watford General Hospital suffering from dehydration and a bladder infection. Unfortunately he never recovered and died this morning.

Michael was a great servant of our club. A thoroughly, decent and kind man, described this morning as a "true gentleman" he will be very much missed. The Club was a large part of his life and over the years he made a number of generous donations on the understanding that they were to remain anonymous. He was that sort of man. The first to offer support and the last to take credit. As he got older he struggled to get to away games but he was there for every lunch and would be up almost every Saturday to support whatever team was playing at home.

He is going to be very much missed and the Club will not seem the same without him

I will post the funeral arrangements once I have

The club will pay respects before our AGM on Saturday and because we are out of season again before the first home league game on the 9th September

I have spoken to his niece Verity to pass on the condolences of the Club for the passing of a great man in our history

A very sad day indeed

Chairman
