Harrow maintain unbeaten run which dates back to September 2009!

Harrow maintained their unbeaten run after defeating Chess Valley on their home ground in Rickmansworth.

Harrow started the brighter of the 2 sides but struggled to covert possession into points. It took 20 minutes before they opened their account when from the back of a ruck, 3 metres out, Beauchamp picked up to drive over the line.

It looked like Harrow were going to press on from here but some ill discipline led to them going down to 12 men at one stage which led to Harrow playing for territory. During this spell 3 points were added to the score thanks to the boot of Read which meant Harrow went in at halftime 8-0 up.

During the break they regrouped & from the kickoff they looked at playing territory rugby again while they were down to 13 & 14 men. During this period Read was able to add a further 6 points to extend the lead.

By this time Harrow was back to 15 players & they stepped up another gear & started to run riot with a further 4 tries being scored in the last 25 minutes of the game. These were scored by Hellard, Proctor & two from Gosling with Conroy converting all 4 tries.

Harrow played the last 5 minutes with 14 men when the skipper Beauchamp was sin binned after voicing his frustration to the referee for the number of penalties Chess Valley committed without any punishment.

One highlight of today’s victory was the return of Andy Elliot who has been out for almost 8 weeks. His return was welcomed as Harrow into the business end of the season.

Overall it was a game where Harrow let themselves down with their ill discipline but they showed some good character to keep another blank which means they haven’t conceded in 4 games & can now look forward to the 2 cup matches coming up with the 1st being a semi final in the Middlesex Floodlit to be played on Wednesday 16th March.
