Goalkeeper James Shea’s performances for Harrow Borough last season saw him earn a move to League 2 side AFC Wimbledon this week.

23 year old Shea joined Boro’ in October after a brief spell with Ryman Division 1 North side Needham Market. He was with Arsenal from 2007 to 2013 and in 2009 he was in the side that won The FA Youth Cup and The Premier Academy League. He had loan spells with Southampton and Dagenham & Redbridge in 2011 but was recalled by Arsenal and was on the bench for them for the Champions League match v Montpelier HSC.

But it was his performances for Boro’ last season that caught the eye and brought him to the attention of a number of clubs with Boro’ Manager, Dave Anderson, declaring he was “the best young goalkeeper he had seen” – and “a delight to work with”.

Shea, who ran away with the honours at Boro’s end of season Awards Evening, is now expected to vie with Ross Worner for the No. 1 jersey. He leaves with the best wishes of all those connected with Harrow Borough Football Club who will watch his future career closely.

For the record James won the VPs Player of the Year, The Players’ Player of the Year and The Supporters’ Player of the year last season.
