Harrow Boro u23's 6 Hanwell Town 8
Jesse Smiths pre match plans had to be changed at the last moment , when four of his starting line up were delayed on their way to the ground.
When the game kicked off Boro had to field the X1 that were present & a few players were clearly playing out of postion. Hanwell wasted No time taking advantage of the reshuffle & raced into a 3-0 lead. Roy Finyiago opened the scoring after ten minutes, then Xavier Mackney had added two more by midway through the half. Boro finally got into the game creating a few chances, a ball from O’Conner just out of reach Ryan Durrant at the far post. In the very next attack the ball did drop to Durrant & he scored to give some hope of a Boro recovery.
Boro made all Four Substitutions at half time & suddenly looked a far more balanced team. O’Conner went close to reducing the lead in the opening minute, then on 50 minutes a penalty was award when O’Conner rounded the keeper & was pulled down before he could despatch the ball into the empty net. Frank Keita stepped up to make it 3-2.
In the very next minute the two goal lead was restored as Tom Hunt netted for Hanwell. Anthony O’Conner scored in the 56 minute, only for Mackney to complete his hat-trick 2 minutes later, 3-5 with more than half an hour still to play!
Veteran Wayne Carter headed home from a corner to further extend the lead , but Boro were not beaten yet, O’Connor was up ended again in the box, this time taking the penalty himself (4-6, 65 mins), then over committing players forward Nathan Mampono was given to much space as he scored a seventh for Hanwell.
With 20 minutes remaining Excellence Muhemba beat a couple of players & scored with a powerful shot (5-7), O’Conner , Bryan, Muhemba & Sowanola all had attempts on goal before a corner fell to Elwin Lartey & he made it 6-7 on 86 minutes. Boro went in pursuit of a late equaliser but Hanwell finally bagged all 3 points when Joe Mills scored in Stoppage time.
Incredibly this was the second Fourteen goal match at Earlsmead this week, as on Saturday Middlesex Youth Rep. side had beaten Wiltshire 14-0 on our ground.
