HENDON 2 HARROW BOROUGH 1
Harrow were knocked out of the Middlesex Senior Cup on a very wet & windy evening at Silver Jubilee Park.
Boro started the game with plenty of possession, being camped in the opponents half for the first ten minutes, but when Hendon did get a turn with the ball they immediately had the first shot of the evening, Daniel Uchechi’s shot was comfortably saved by Melvin Minter. Boro created their first chance soon after as Stanislaus fed Moss and his hard low shot was saved by the advancing home keeper Lovelock, with his legs. The resulting corner fell to Pashaj but Lovelock gathered the ball easily.
Mid way through the half Hendon had a free kick wide on the left , the ball was whipped in & possibly helped by a Boro defender on its way rebounded off the far post and to safety.
Just before half time Boro had three golden chances to take the lead in the space of 10 seconds as Tayo Coker, Bajram Pashaj & Ryan Moss had attempts on target from inside the six yard box but a brilliant save & goal line clearances by Sam Murphy and Tom Lovelock combined to keep the scores 0-0 at half time.
The second half opened with the Greens having most of the possession, in the 51st minute the referee awarded the home side a penalty. Melvin Minter made a fine save, Sam Murphy tried to follow up his missed spot kick but Minter saved again only for Ashley Nathaniel-Cole to react the quickest to put the hosts ahead.
Boro created a few opportunities but Bryan, Stanislaus & Pashaj all had shots going high & wide.
On 73 minutes, Michael Bryan crossed from the right bye line the ball dropped to Kurtis Cumberbatch who twisted & turned in the area & finally getting a shot on target that took a deflection to equalise.
The match was settled when Niko Muir scored the winning goal after he was played in by Ibe. Boro battled to the end but another equaliser was beyond them.
Harrow return to league action on Saturday with a visit to Thurrock.
