Harrow Borough
Sat 12 Nov 15:00 - The Ryman Football League - Premier Division Full time Attendance 201

One goal in each half gave Borough their second home league win of the season against a spirited Leatherhead side that were far better than their league position would suggest.

Dave Anderson made just one change to the starting line up with Reggie Savage replacing Mo Habu who was joined on the bench by new signings Will Viner and Aryantaf Tajbakhsh.

Leatherhead started the brighter and Nick Pope had to be alert to palm away a dangerous cross and the resulting corner. Boroughs first threatening attack was courtesy of a poor back pass that allowed Schoburgh to race clear but his shot was well saved by Ramos in the visiting goal.

Mid way through the first half Borough has a spell of continuous pressure, Garry Jones delivered two excellent in swinging corners from the right wing, one of which cleared everybody in the goal mouth and hit the inside of the far post but somehow rebounded back into play. A sweeping move down the left side involving Walters then Jones & Delgado who was able to feed J J Bates but his cross shot was blocked by Ramos.

From a corner on the left wing taken by Schoburgh the ball was hit low towards the near post Pestle completely missed his kick which wrong footed Ramos allowing Evandro Delgado to pounce at the far post to prod the ball home to give Borough the Lead

Leatherhead immediately hit back shooting from long range forcing Nick Pope to tip the ball over the bar at full stretch. Tommy Hutchings twice came within inches of equalising, first curling a free kick inches wide of the post, then just off target with another shot from well outside the area.

Leatherhead started the second half on the attack with a powerful shot that Nick Pope did very well to save. After just 5 minutes of the second half Leatherhead made a double substitution and continued to attack without any rewards.

Borough counter attacked with Delgado running with the ball nearly the full length of the pitch exchanging passes with Savage but could not get enough power on hit shot to trouble Ramos. Wolleaston then had a shot that was inches away from extending Boroughs lead.

Bradnock-Brennan had to be replaced by Joe Kelly at right back shortly before Leatherhead thought they had equalised but were denied by a linesman’s flag for off side. Borough then had their best spell of the second half with both Jones and Savage going close.

Boroughs second goal arrived in the 78th minute, a flowing move with J J Bates feeding Schoburgh down the right wing, his powerful cross was steered home perfectly be Reggie Savage. The Leatherhead were defence appealing for offside more in hope than expectation.

Leatherhead were not finished, they forced Nick Pope to make a further save on his final appearance for The Boro before returning to Charlton at the end of his three month loan period. Then when Pope was beaten Kelly was able to clear from on the line.

Kelly himself had to leave the field due to a shoulder injury, leaving Borough to see out the six minutes of stoppage time with just 10 men having used all three substitutes .
