Despite recent set backs when Brigade have been unable to field sides to travel away, the Friaragemen played a full part in an entertaining game against the visitors. Jarrovians had earned a six point victory earlier in the season and being keen to record a double, brought along a full twenty squad. Brigade, on the other hand had just the bare fifteen and played the majority of the second half without the services of the injured Kallum Jones.

Chris Corkin opened the scoring with a penalty before Jarrovians set up a number of offensives in the Brigade 22. Several scrums were defended and Arnell was able to clear the ball upfield. Effective line-out work by Egglestone and Southgate and support by Shaw took play into the Jarrovian half to precede the first try. Arnell broke from a maul on the right touchline, kicked the ball cleverly beyond the defence and won the twenty five metre race for the touchdown.

Brigade maintained the pressure and a concerted forward effort gave prop Iain Scott the opportunity to drive over under the posts for Corkin to convert. Jarrovians gained their first try to bring half-time to 15-5.

Yellow carded Phil Gorman was forced to spend the first ten minutes on the sidelines and Jarrovians took full advantage to take a four point lead with two converted tries. Brigade were not deterred and continued to create attacking opportunities throughout the remainder of the game. Shaw, Southgate and Dave Frank were constantly on hand to maintain forward momemtum and when the opportunity came, Ritchie Frank cut through the defence from the 22 for Corkin to convert.

Jarrovians regained the lead with a converted try as the Brigade fourteen struggled to cover several breakaways. The final phases of the game saw some of the best rubgy from both sides. Gorman, Craggs and Dave Frank ran strongly to threaten the visitors line and but for enforced handling errors Brigade might well have gained the deciding score. Jarrovians defended with purpose and used the long kick to push Brigade back to their line.

The concluding score came in injury time with Jarrovians able to overcome a stretched Brigade defence.
Brigade look forward to next week's trip to Yarm and hope to assemble the strongest squad possible.
