Brigade suffered a nine try to three defeat a the hands of Prudhoe, the scoreline reflecting the relative league positions and match records of both clubs to date. With a number of players absent, Brigade were pleased to welcome back skipper Egglestone after injury and Beckwith, able to resume after work commitments. A lively Prudhoe side showed their pace and handling skills from the start, producing a converted try within a minute of the kick off. The dominance continued and Brigade were unable to stem the flow of four further tries. However Brigade's forwards asserted themselves and good work from Thornton, Craggs and Edwards took play up to the Prudhoe line where a number of infringements led to the award of a penalty try which Picknett converted.
H/T 31-7
Egglestone had been forced to retire before the break with injury and Brigade had just the bare fifteen to contest the second half. And a much better half ensued for Brigade, despite conceding four further tries. Peter Howe and Coverdale ran strongly from midfield and almost got through before a forward surge gave the touchdown for Scott Gaiety with Picknett converting. Shaune Howe next gathered the loose ball after mistakes in the visitors defence and outpaced the cover with a strong run to the corner. Rory Craig had a lively game at scrum half and several darting runs came close to bringing a result.
