u/10s cruise u/9 blue pipped u/11s lose 4-2

HARTLEPOOL U/9S lost an excellent game of football in a close match 2-1 to Harton & Westoe Lions both teams done well in hot conditions

Under the cosh at the start of the match but some brilliant defending particularly by man of match Ollie Watson we kept the Lions out.

After growing into the match we stared to play some good football and our moments on the counter but were unable to convert our chances in a goalless first half

The second half was similar to the first again starting on the back foot but slowly growing in confidence and competing well in every position towards the end of the match the Lions converted 2 scrappy chances into goals then with a few minutes left Ollie Stamper grabbed a goal back on his debut despite a late pressure the were unable to grab a point they deserved

Cole Edwards was skipper for the day

⚽South shields v Hartlepool fc under 10s⚽
Well what a game of football the team started so quickly and quickly got to grips with the warm conditions passing and moving the ball with one and two touch passing, Lewis Campbell opened the scoring after only 2 minutes with a fine finish and the second quickly followed after a foul by the goalkeeper on Lewis Campbell with a Harry Kane esk penalty from captain Finlay Elsdon straight down the middle, the third goal came from the training pitch with a short corner played to Jacob Watson who smashed it towards goal taking a slight deflection off the defender, number 4 from the energetic defender Lewis standing striding out of defence to score from long range, a slight lapse in concentration allowed South shields to make it 4-1 with a fine break away goal leaving Henry Simons with no chance, not to be out done defender Joshua stamper galloped forward and smashed the ball to make it 5-1 at half time.
The second half saw fc controlling the play moving the ball forward as quickly as possible, the ball played into Finlay Elsdon who worked the ball into a shooting position with fine BSS skills before bending it into the bottom corner, number 7 followed after a tenacious run from Connor Dunn who got his rewards for never giving up after a man of the match performance from the goalkeeper, the game was wrapped up after fine play between Teigan Wilson playing the ball into Zak Boddy who fired across goal to score his first goal for the under 10s, good to get the first win on the board

The new u/11 played a friendly with T.I.B.S made a good start with Noah Gilbraith hitting the bar from a corner as they also failed to score from a one on one but mistakes saw the visitors break to hit 3 goals as more good chances were missed

2 more good chances went a begging as they found the TIBS keeper in fine form with some good saves but great play by Ewan Purdy and Ben Calvert set up Kian Foreman to score they were dominating the game but failed convert their chances as TIBS again caught them on the break to make it 4-1 but an excellent Robin Harrison strike saw them pull one back but in the end it was mistakes and missed chances that proved costly
