We bow out of Shipowners Cup
A game we should have won poor goals conceded ,missed chances but a great display by the visitors keeper deneid us the win
We welcome Gateshead Leam Rangers in the 1st rd of the Shipowners Charity Cup the winners play Boldon CA away in the 2nd rd
We had a 4-2 win away but a similar defeat at home in the league last season the latter ruined by a certain person we led 2-0 on 87 minutes but in a bizarre last 3 minutes and 4 minutes added time we conceded 4 goas the less said about that game the better.
Everybody is looking for a massive improvment from our midweek performance Skipper Mattie Gardner and Dean Cope returned from injury but Elliot Coils ,Lee Jones and Dale Campion who both came of the bench midweek are working.
Mitch Rookes after a long lay off came into goal and Paul Donaghy came back into the squad after a lay off.
We faced a very strong wind and fell behind on 7 minutes from a corner that was turned in at back post after everybody missed the ball we slowly came into the game Mattie Gardner robbed adefender but the keeper made a great block then a Snowdon cross look certain to be headed home by Tumilty but he misdirected the header then the keeper made a great saves from Blackburn ,Tumilty was then wide and 2 other efforts were blocked from Snowdon and Blackburn then right on the break we conceded a second a carbon copy of the first.
With the wind at our backs we needed a good start but it was only when Connolly came off the bench that we had our first effort from in the half but again the keeper made a great save we now pushed forwardand it was one way trafficand after another blocked effort from HammondBLACKBURN fired home
Cope was wide with an header as the keeper made another great save from Gardner then we had 3 efforts blocked and Osbourne hit the bar the visitors broke away to score a poor goal at the near post on 77 minutes Connolly then was inches wide on 85 minutes it was 4-1 another breakaway then on 86 the keeper failed to hold Gardners effort and TUMILTY followed up to score then in the final the keeper again was at fault for TUMILTY to tap 2 mistakes at the end by the man of the match but 5 great saves won the game for the visitors, in game we should have won.
