Hartlepool 17 - 30 Barnard Castle

Despite a second half comeback, Hartlepool went down 30-17 at home to Barnard Castle.

Castle won the toss and played with bank first half and went on to totally dominate the first half and ran in four tries. Ian Mullivhill replied for Pool after fifteen minutes.

Half time 27-5.

The second half saw Pool took the game to Castle and totally dominated the away side. Pool captain charged down a Castle kick and made 60 yards with a great run but the final pass to Adam Ainley just could nt be made. Ainley then nearly scored try after a 50 yard break but was tackled on the line.With Pool in command, Kegen scored a fine try after sixty minutes and Jason Norman added a third try following a great break from Adam Ainley. Pool pushed for the fourth try but stout defence kept them at bay at managed to kick a last minute penalty to secure the game. Best for Pool were Andy Small and Adam Ainley.
