Hartlepool Rovers welcomes Tom David as part of the "try" series of dinners.

On Friday the 5th of June, Hartlepool Rovers welcome Tom David for the first in a series of three sportsman's dinners.

A Little Bit About Tommy
[centre]"Many moons ago, I began my sporting career as an 18 year old striker for Rhydyfelin Athletic in the Pontypridd football league. After one game, my coach pulled me aside and told me the idea was to go around people ant through them! He suggested I play rugby. As Max Boyce' famous song, Tommy David, he velly big man! The rest is history....
I have played with and against some of the best players of my time and have met some of the real characters along the way."

Tom made his debut against France, toured with the famous 1974 British Lions unbeaten tour to South Africa and famously delivered the penultimate pass that was scored by Gareth Edwards and which is now known as the best try ever scored.

The Dinner
Tickets for the dinner are £25:00 per ticket with tables of 10 also available for £250. These are available from the club. If you cant get to the club please use this website, social media, or ask one of our members to assist.
As with most dinners of this nature there is a memorabilia auction. We try and bring to these auction items that are individual to either our guest or the event.
Tom has donated a small number of items that are significant to him. These are, four signed prints to celebrate "the TRY" or incidents involving Tom. These items are limited and are not available on eBay etc, well not until the Sunday after the dinner....
We also have a signed Barbarians shirt that has been kindly donated by The Barbarians FC.

The "Try" Series Dinners
The club are planning 3 "Sportsman's Dinners" which have a Barbarians theme.
These dinners celebrate the world famous try which occurred during the 1973 game between The Barbarians and New Zealand at Cardiff Arms Park.
These dinners celebrate the long association with the Barbarians and how Rovers plays its part in the historic 125th birthday of the first ever Barbarians game here in Hartlepool on December 27th 1890.
The first of these dinners is this one with Tom David and includes meal, comedian, party games, and the auction.
There is a great deal of excitement around the club and they are very proud in there association with the world famous Barbarians. All future events will be here on the website and social media so keep checking.
