Hartlepool Rovers are back on the New Friarage on Saturday, hosting Darlington (kick off 3pm).

Rovers will be chasing a league double having won 32-10 at Blackwell Meadows in the reverse fixture and also looking to bounce back from two disappointing defeats to Gateshead and Durham City in their last two games.

Both of those games were winnable and the Whites were in full control of each match only to concede late tries in each game to end up with losing and try bonus points from the Gateshead fixture and a losing bonus from the trip to Hollow Drift.

On paper, Saturday’s clash with Darlington on home turf looks a safe home win but Darlington can’t be underestimated despite their poor run of form and the Friaragemen will need to repeat their attacking play from the last two matches but tighten up their defensive work.

Steven Barnfield switches from scrum half to full back with Matty Stephenson at nine and partnering James Evens at stand off. Jack Gunn returns to the side in the centre.

Kevin Maguire has recovered from the knock that forced him out of the City game and he resumes at hooker. Dylan Langley comes in at lock and there is a new-look back row of Liam Wood, Lee Maddison and Callum Whitehead.

Ben Cushlow, Danny Cookland and Michael Foster form the bench.

Rovers: S Barnfield, Grand, Gunn, Sainty, A Smith, Evens, Stephenson, A Flounders (c), Maguire, Wise, Langley, D Smith, Wood, Maddison, Whitehead. Subs: B Cushlow, Foster, Cookland.
