Hartlepool Rovers are on home turf for the second week running when they host Gosforth on the New Friarage on Saturday (kick off 3pm).

After last week’s 26-19 victory over Guisborough, the White Shirts will be looking to play the same style of attacking rugby against Gosforth but cut out the minor handling errors that let Guisborough off the hook at times.

Matches against Gosforth tend to be high scoring with both sides liking to play running rugby and go with home advantage, the last three seasons have seen Rovers come out on top at the New Friarage 26-3; 34-29 and 34-12.

Last week the Friaragemen’s pack was up against a much bigger Guisborough pack and did a great job of moving them around and winning plenty of good ball. If pitch and weather conditions are good for the match then the backs will be looking to use that possession well.

Gosforth will be smaller and lighter up front than Guisborough but are very mobile and attack and defend in numbers, something that Rovers will have to be wary of.

There is only one change to the side that beat Guisborough with Matty Wilson moving to flanker and Danny Charters coming in at number 8. This means that Lee Maddison, who scored two tries last week, is fit to play. On the bench are Andrew Flounders, Matty Stevenson and Liam Wood.

Former Rover Matty Gaynor is named on the bench for Gosforth.
