A reasonable start to the season despite the result, the boys looked good in the field and with the ball but Ticknall's experience proved too much for the Hartshorne youngsters.
Skipper Jamie Shakespeare made sure the boys were sharp in the field and the first wicket came early thanks to a superb opening from Jack Ashworth. However, Ticknall's more experienced batsmen took the bit between their teeth and managed to post a respectable 126 for 5 wickets off the full 20 overs.
Opening batsmen Euan Kerry and Sheridan Tomlin got off to a composed start taking virtually a run a ball in the first over before having their wickets taken in the next one. Jack Ashcroft looked assured with the bat and posted 15 runs which included some cracking off-side fours. He was supported well by Jimmy Moran with some excellent running between the wickets. Unfortunately the remaining batsmen couldn't carry on the good start and as the light deteriorated Ticknall went on to secure all of the points and the match.
For saying the lads haven't had chance to pick up a bat or ball since the winter nets they did very well and were a credit to the Club with their performance and attitude.
