A cricket club has been given extra funding thanks to a new housing development.
Hartshorne Cricket Club is to be the beneficiary of Section 106 money from the housing development on the former Chesterfield Arms site in Repton Road.
Councillor Peter Smith, who represents Repton on South Derbyshire District Council but also serves on Hartshorne Parish Council as a resident, told members of the parish council the news.
The housing development is now known as Adams Close.
Pat Murray, who represents Hartshorne on Derbyshire County Council said: "The more we can do to support the club the better because it keeps youngsters busy and has a great reputation.
"We have cricket players that come to the club and build up talents. We want to keep that going.
"It is like Old England where every village had its games every weekend, and people would be having tea on the village green.
"It would be nice to see it back in proper use".
