H&D Mo Bros
Harwich and Dovercourt Rugby Club members formed a Movember team to support the International Movember appeal for prostate cancer research.
The team is captained by Sean Mills and recruited 25 other club members during the month including the Chairman, vice chair, secretary and treasurer. Each member has their own page on the Movember web site where donations can be made electronically to individuals or the team.
The total collected during the month was £5245. Mo Bro Martin Calver raising a fantastic £1500 and several others achieving over £500.
There were a large number of teams supporting the appeal the leading team is headed by the widow of Andy Ripley the ex England player recently awarded a MBE.
The whole team started clean shaven at the beginning of November unshaven for the whole month Mos ranged from the minimal to magnificent; they were as wide ranging as the amounts collected which were between miserly to majestic.
Mo Bro events we arranged at the club and local venues during the month and the local press helped raise the Mo profile publishing pictures and articles during the month. The teams travelling supporters matched their Mos with tweed, corduroy and cravats for all the clubs matches collecting donations from opponent club supporters and players.
The appeal was drawn to a close on December 4th at the last home league game before xmas when all Mo Bros attended to have their faces relived of hairy growth in front a large audience assembled for the pre match meal.
