H&D U16’s 26 - 00 Haverhill U16’s

H&D walked away with smiles from ear to ear after this great team performance.

Harwich turned up to this game with one thing in mind due too previous encounters, to win! With Haverhill turning up with a lack of players Harwich gave them a few players to even up the numbers. Once the teams were sorted a 12 a side game was established and it was time to start.

The first half started and from the off it was even-steven, despite breaks from both sides, the defences stayed strong. All until a brilliant break from Teddy, which led to a try for the number eight, unfortunately the conversion was missed. 5-0
This was followed by consecutive breaks from Haverhill and constant pressure on the Harwich defence. H&D established that kicking into the strong wind was a terrible idea, after a solid 10 minutes of defence on their own try-line, H&D’s defence stayed strong and they went into the break five points up.

The second half was very different, with some great tries from H&D. The half started with a lot of big hits from forwards Teddy and Richard. From a Haverhill a scrum just inside the H&D twenty two, hooker George won the ball against the head and after a crash ball and a well-executed backs move, center Tommy Bunker had broken through the Haverhill defence and found himself with a simple 2 on 1 with the full-back. Bunker cooler off-loaded to the supporting George, who finished off an outstanding team try in the corner. With the try converted Harwich were twelve points ahead.

Ten minutes later a great kick from scrum-half Charlie forced a knock- on from Haverhill and H&D had a scrum on the 5 metre line, a great pick up from powerhouse Teddy saw yet another try for Harwich; a well-executed conversion saw the lead increase by another seven points.
Several breaks then led to another try for Harwich, a great pick and go around the corner from Mason, who was outstanding all game. Charlie increased the lead with another conversion.

Harwich and Dovercourt walked away with a 26-0 victory and with smiles from ear to ear after an all-round great team performance.
