Chairmans notes ahead of Welbeck game 25/10/14

Hello and may I take this opportunity to welcome the Players, Management and Supporters of Welbeck Welfare for todays CML North game.
They say a week is a long time in Football and even at our level this is very true, two weeks ago I was very critical in my Programme notes of the players, Parents and the support for the club, I called for change and I still very much believe that actions speak louder than words and most people wouldn't have even read those words in the programme but I feel that in a few weeks there has been a slight mindset change around the club.
We has a club have a long way to go to where we want to be, and to get there I appreciate the road wont always be flat and trouble free but will be undulating and punishing at times, its easy to think that people spit there dummys out because results haven't gone our way, don’t get me wrong the last two weeks and watching how the players have battled and they have for two hard fought 1-0 victories has been a joy to see, these things has a coach make things worthwhile, but as Chairman I am not determined by results I am determined by how the club is run, a lot of the frustrations that spilled out onto the Askern Notes was a number of factors possibly the overriding factor being my personal situation and a feeling of uselessness as I have been recuperating, seeing and hearing Bren and Lee work their hearts out and having a very difficult time and not being around hurts me but I should have dealt with this better and realised that I cant always be present in everything that happens with the club.
The Players I believe realise more now as well the frustrations we have and that may have had a factor in the performances in the past few weeks but again my role as Chairman is wider reaching and I took the time out to watch our Under 13’s last Sunday go top of their league by beating who was top 7-0, it was a pleasure to watch and with the Under 14’s going second that day tells me the future is looking rosy and I must have better dialogue with Parents, I cant just expect that they will all turn up to functions or put money behind the bar, its about educating them what goes on with the club, how much things cost and how they can get involved more with the club, again things for me to learn from and take forward.
I was positive about some things though again I want to thank Neil Sime from Clay Lane Construction who very kindly in his own time and expense has dug the footings so we can extend the walls behind both goals, this will hopefully be completed by the end of the season and also Lee and Craig at Signify signmakers for their ongoing support whenever we need them they are on hand to assist I cant thank them highly enough, its easy to forget sometimes the great people and backing we have in and around the club we just need more support from a lot of the players and if we don’t then like I said at the top their will be actions and that will affect those directly not the club as a whole, so todays game i hope that everyone enjoys it and don’t forget Toms Tea Room will be open as usual to quench your thirst and Hunger, safe Journey home everyone after the game too . Regards Jonny Wilson
