Many thanks to Vice Chairman Paul Latham for all the excellent and honest reports all season, absolute star and great end of season Review, Thank you.

No one said it was going to be easy - a tale of joy, despair, anger, sadness, cheating and finally ecstasy.

Everything was looking good on the pitch at the start of the new season. An opening friendly against higher opposition in Ollerton saw us fielding two different sides in each half. I think that the first half ended one one, but we eventually lost the game four one. A Friday night fixture away against Wombwell Main from the county senior league saw a three two defeat, but again a large squad made the trip. North east Counties opposition was up next at the Jones and Co and Barton Town were beaten by two goals to nil. Armthorpe Welfare saw a last minute goal level the game, and finally Maltby Main produced a stern test as we looked forward to our opening central midlands league fixture. Meanwhile behind the scenes things were not quite so rosy. At a special meeting held just before the start of the season, it was discussed about bringing in a budget. Manager Lee had brought a proposal about raising money to pay players, but this was totally against our chairman’s beliefs. It was a stormy meeting to say the least but we all went away to think about things. When we reconvened a few weeks later things were still tense but we finally dismissed the idea of a budget for the club. A counter proposal was put on the table which was kind of accepted but it disappeared without trace and we remained a non playing club, just paying travelling expenses. The reason I have put the above is that many clubs think we have been paying players this season but nothing could be further from the truth. It was against our Chairman’s wishes and we finally came to the right decision in the end.
So on a sunny August afternoon we made our way to Brodsworth for our opening game. It went to plan and Lee Holmes announced his arrival in a Colliery shirt by getting a hat trick in the three nil win. Next up was Renishaw Rangers who were new to the league and from early results seemed to be the new whipping boys. Goalscorers that day were Josh Davies(2), Holmes (4), Eddie, Tom Pick and Joe Byron (Joe’s contribution so he could attend the end of season celebrations). On a serious note though we conceded a last minute goal when the opposition had not looked like scoring all afternoon. We switched off but ten months later when you’re winning the league on goal difference, moments like that can come back to haunt you! Next up was Appleby Frodingham at home and Lee Holmes and a Josh Davies penalty saw us gain the points. Two days later and on a scorching hot bank holiday Monday we travelled to Lincoln Morelands. We got off to a great start, going two goals up thanks to goals from Sean Mundy and Lewis Francis. However we were pegged back early in the second half and the game could have gone either way. But eight minutes from time Holmes hit a screamer into the bottom corner from twenty odd yards and victory number four was sealed. Still though behind the scenes not every thing was rosy. We were awarded team of the month for August, but there was no mention on the club website, and in the programme we had seen no chairman’s notes, normally a regular feature. Had our chairman been kidnapped? To be fair Jonny had been working some Saturdays, but their was a feeling that all still was not well off the field.
On it though things only got better, and a trip to Dinnington saw us win five out of five with a three two win. Twice taking the lead, it looked like our former favourite Matty Bradley had given the home side a point when levelling from the spot near the end, but Sean Mundy had other ideas and netted the winner to give us two consecutive three two wins. Our next fixture also saw the three two scoreline continuing, but unfortunately for us we only scored the two. Clay Cross were also unbeaten when they visited the Jones and Co on the 23rd September, and they remained so after a Lee Clay hat trick, Francis and Holmes our scorers. We got back to winning ways away at Newark at the end of the month, Homes hat trick, Scott Bibby, Jordan Hardman and Connor Payne our goal scorers. A week later and we were back at Station Road, this time to face Collingham which we knew would be a much sterner task than the previous week. And so it proved as a Jack Conley strike twelve minutes from time sealed the points. Our Chairman was in attendance and all seemed well at the club. A week later though and our worse performance of the season saw us exit the Sheffield senior cup. We were woeful that afternoon and were four nil down by half time.
A Slight improvement in the second half but we still conceded another and were deservedly beaten by five. A challenge cup game a week later away at Kilburn from the southern section of the central midlands league saw us ease through to the next round by four goals to one. Goalscorer’s that day were Eddie, S. Mundy Holmes and Jordan Hatton. Yet another cup game was to follow, a trip to Tideswell in the floodlit cup where we were knocked out by two goals to one. A trip to Dronfield Town reserves was up next and after what had happened in our previous game there we went with a little apprehension. We need not have worried as the game went off without incident on or off the pitch and we recorded a five one win. Eddie, Hatton, Holmes (2) and young Sam Caygill scored his first senior goal. A mid week game against Thorne was up next and this was a game that certainly influenced the league table. With twenty minutes remaining we found ourselves four two down and facing defeat, but a remarkable come back saw us win the game by five goals to four, a Josh Davies penalty sealing the win. Other scorers that night were Caygill (2) Holmes and S. Mundy. We followed the win up at the week end with a three one win over Collingham with goals from Connor Brown, S. Mundy and Holmes. A trip to Askern in November saw us drop two points in a three all draw. Josh Davies missed an early penalty and then we were to find ourselves three one down. Apparently Eddie scored a great second which me and Satch missed as we had nipped off to the loo. Holmsey levelled matters and only a great goalkeeping performance by a certain mr Dan Jones denied us all three points. After that performance, Lee moved quickly to bring Dan to the club as Wib was struggling through injury. A challenge cup game against, the only side to beat us in the league, Clay Cross at the Jones and Co was up next and a remarkable scoreline saw us through to the quarter finals. Five up at the break, we played our visitors off the park first half, and although they improved after the break we still scored a sixth. Caygill, Holmes(2) S. Mundy (2) and Conley were the names on the scoresheet. Phoenix were up next at home and were on the end of a four nil defeat. A Lee Holmes hat trick and a Jordan Woodhall header doing the damage. Off to Retford for a top of the league encounter with our local rivals in what was a must win game for both sides if they were to keep their challenge for the title alive. Jack Conley headed home just before the interval and Sean Mundy sealed a deserved win just on the hour mark. A week later and was it a case of after the Lord Mayors show. We struggled to score against Brodsworth on our own patch and it took until eighty minutes for the breakthrough. Just when we were all congratulating ourselves on another three points, Joe Macintosh produced a hell of a strike to level the scores and deny us all three points.
The sixteenth of December started as a normal day, Lath called round for some tape or something like that, we talked about the team and as it was a two o’clock kick off said see you in an hour. Got to the Renishaw Rangers ground at just before one o’clock to be met with a bemused Mark saying that he had just heard that Lee had quit the club and most of the players would be following him to Rossington. What a bombshell! So ninety minutes before kick off Lath had to get the team ready and in the right frame of mind to face a side that had beaten title rivals Clay Cross three one. Add to the fact that they signed a couple of players on the day that I had signed the forms for and it was game on. To his credit Lee Holmes turned up that day, even though he knew it would be his last game for the club. To be fair to him he put a shift in that day and was rewarded with our second goal after S. Mundy had opened the scoring. Renishaw pulled one back five minutes from time but we saw the game out much to the relief of Lath. It would be fair to say that most of the supporters that were there that day were perplexed by the decision made by Lee. My opinion is that if someone has a chance to better themselves than so be it. Steve Evans has just left Mansfield Town who were in with a great chance of promotion, to go up a division to Peterborough. My gripe with Lee was how he treated Mark and dropping him in it on that day in December. But he gave us a platform to work on when he left, was instrumental in bringing Sean, Gaz Mundy, Lee Holmes Jordan Woodhall and Dan Jones to the club, and whatever your opinion of him (and I know their are many) he has played his part in our winning the championship. As far as Lee Holmes is concerned, he played twenty games for us scoring at least once in fifteen of them. We won the title on goal difference and personally I feel without Lee’s goals this season things could well have been different.
The league gave us a couple of weeks to get our house in order after Lee’s departure, thanks to our Captain Eddie player departure was not as bad as first feared. Four players made the move to Rossington and a hastily arranged meeting to interview potential candidates for the vacant managers position saw Lee Needham and Tom Hague installed as the manager/assistant . Their first view of the Colliery was from the stands at Appleby Frodingham as Lath, assisted by Ben and Wibb inflicted the home sides worst result of the season after a five nil win. Davies, Francis, Sean Mundy (2) and Kenzie Tomlinson goals meant that Lath could keep his management of the first team at 100% success rate. Lee and Tom’s first appearance at home was against Dinnington, and they could not have given the home fans a better introduction. New signing Sam Foulds bagged himself a hat trick, Sean Mundy got a brace, Lewis Francis and a seasonal opener for Gaz Mundy completed the rout. A week later away at Staveley Miners Welfare reserves we dropped two valuable points. A game we dominated from the start was goalless until midway through the second half when S. Mundy opened the scoring and looked to be bringing home the points, but a defensive blunder near the end cost us. We had great chances that day to see off the home side, but you all know about teams not finishing sides off when on top. A week later and it was back to the Jones and Co for another can of seven up from Tom’s tea room, this time Tideswell being the victims. A Tomlinson hat trick, Francis, Foulds and Eddie put us in command, and village youngster Joe Green put the icing on the cake netting his first senior goal and Harworth’s seventh. When Newark came to town the first week in February they went the way of the Dinnington and Tideswell and lost by seven goals to nil, our third seven nil win at home on the trot. Another Foulds hat trick, Francis and Hardman, with Joe Coleman and Jack Conley finishing matters off. A midweek rearranged game at home was up next against Lincoln Morelands, and although we tried to get seven goals for the fourth home game in a row, we could only manage five. Unfortunately we also conceeded two. The three points were welcome though and hitting the net that day were Foulds, Davies, Tomlinson and S. Mundy(2) . Saturday the tenth of February will go down as one of the worst days for me of watching non league football. The quarter final of the challenge cup had pitched us against local rivals Retford and a good crowd was in attendance. We had the better chances and a man of the match performance in the Retford goal had kept the home side in it. But as before if you don’t take your chances you are punished and that is exactly what happened, Will Tomlinson struck an excellent free kick on eighty minutes and we were behind. What happened two minutes later has been well documented but neither side can be proud of what happened next. After the melee had died down both sides were down to ten men and the remainder of the game was played out in a strange atmosphere. Should the referee have abandoned the game - for me yes after what had happened, but he didn’t and we equlized in the umpteenth minute of stoppage time through Tomlinson only for Retford to snatch a last gasp winner. A drive home that equalled the Dronfield game the previous season followed and I certainly thought that local football was a big loser that day.
It was two weeks to our next game, and yet more drama was to follow. No keeper on the day meant that Lath had to go in goal, his first competitive fixture in over four years for the club. Pleasing for Mark he kept a clean sheet, Tomlinson and Tom Walker added the goals, and a two nil win over a much improved Welbeck saw us take the three points. Due to postponements we did not take to the field again until three weeks later when Askern came to the Jones and Co. The game was in doubt right up to kick off due to the snowy conditions, but sterling work by our chairman, Satch and Alan and Son Steve Wibb clearing the lines made sure the game went ahead. It was a comfortable victory, debutant Jacob Mason opened the scoring with Josh Davies getting the other two. Again regarding goal difference we conceded a late goal when we had not really looked in any danger. More drama after the game when Lath gave winger Jack Conley a lift home after the game and was involved in a RTA. Jack unfortunately received a serious injury to his shoulder which would rule him out for the remainder of the season. Another twist followed in the next game when Bentley were the visitors. We found ourselves two goals down entering injury time, but Marley Alder headed home, and in Fergie time Mark West rescued a point heading home a Francis cross. We said at the time what a vital point that could turn out to be and so it was to prove. Three days later and another home fixture against Dronfield Town reserves saw a very much improved away side performance. Tomlinson and West gave us a two goal lead, but a goal ten minutes from time meant for a nervy finish. I had to leave early but was told we rode our luck towards the end. If we had not had enough drama before the game against Tideswell, we had what could only be called deception on our trip to Derbyshire. The opposition only had the bare twelve on the team sheet and when one player went off injured very early on they had used their only sub. We had most of the play that day but a fine goalkeeping performance, missed chances saw us level on eight five minutes. We finally got a break with a penalty, but Josh Davies saw his spot kick saved. In injury time we finally made the breakthrough Alder finding the net and that was it so we thought. Not so as almost immediately from the kick off the home team equalised. We went home bemoaning our luck and the thought of throwing two points away. It was not until Monday when I was looking on the central midlands website for the goalscorer for my match report that I noticed something was amiss. The Tideswell goalscorer was not on their team sheet !
After informing Mark of my findings, our Captain went on a mission to find out the truth and apparently he was ( or should have been ) serving a four game ban. We knew it was the player in question as a couple of ours had played with him previously. An appeal to the league was put forward and eventually Tideswell admitted to playing a suspended player. We then awaited the CML decision about the points.
The away game against Welbeck was switched to The Jones and Co recreational ground due to the Welbeck pitch being waterlogged. We found ourselves two one down at the interval with West getting our goal. The second half saw an improvement in our performance with Tomlinson getting the equaliser and Foulds on his return to the side getting the decisive goal. Staveley Miners Welfare were up next in the rearranged game after the original fixture was abandoned with twenty minutes remaining after a nasty injury to our keeper Glen McPhearson. That day we were three two down but I am told we looked like turning it around with the visitors down to ten, but we will never know if that would have turned out to be true. This day after a pretty much even first half, another inspiring half time team talk by Lee saw us totally outplay the opposition and goals by Jonathan Bownes and a brace from Tomlinson saw us home. A midweek trip to Phoenix was up next, and due to a holiday commitment ( when I booked it we had no game) I missed my first game of the season. Lath kept me informed by text and the first one was to say that Sam Foulds had given us the lead after around twenty minutes in. The second was that we were missing lots of chances, but the third said how we had gone to pieces for the last fifteen minutes of the half, and it was thanks to Steve Wibberley who had kept our lead intact saving a penalty just before the break. I was with Captain on the beach when Foulds doubled our lead to ease the nerves and when Lovett got the third I could relax. Certainly do not like football by text. 28th April saw our second defeat in the league since Clay Cross in September going down two nil away at Bentley. The home side had beaten our Derbyshire rivals seven days earlier so we knew what to expect, but we were poor this day and did not deserve anything out the game. It was the first time we had failed to score in a game since the Swinton cup game, and the first time in the league we had drawn a blank. Yes we missed our Captain Eddie, but players should step up the mark when players are missing and this day they did not. A Thursday night fixture a few days later saw us make the trip to Thorne. We won by a margin of six goals to nil, but in truth we should have doubled that margin. The goal scorers that day were West (3) S. Mundy (2) and Tom Pick, but going on about goal difference Tom Walker missed a penalty when others should have taken it. So a couple of days later we had our final league game of the season at home. On a glorious sunny day and a bumper crowd of over three hundred, we entertained our local rivals Retford FC. The news had filtered through that the league had dismissed our appeal for the Tideswell game and just deducted them a point. Even though they had played a suspended player, who had influenced the game by denying us three points by scoring the last minute goal we had to let the result stand. This denied us two points and also the fact that we could win the league in front of our own fans. They had also upset are title rivals by awarding them three points for Brodsworth withdrawing from the league but no goals, hence they win a game nil nil. It was a decision from a committee that did not want to upset anyone and wanted to take the title to the final day. Both decisions were poor ones and only upset both sides and only goes to show on our part that cheating pays. A one point deduction is hardly going to change a mid table side mindset. The following week we could have taken a side to Clay Cross with a couple of players from a higher league not signed on and if we were found out they would take the points off us but awarding nothing to Clay Cross so they could not win the league!! This rule needs changing as the innocent club is penalised not the offending club. Anyway on to the Retford game and in the end an easy victory especially in the second half. Tomlinson opened the scoring, S. Mundy got the second and Foulds with an excellent third sealed the win. It was great way to finish the season and the Pavillion was full of people celebrating promotion. Mr pessimistic here was not amongst them. Clay Cross still had to play Collingham and play ourselves so there was a chance they could turn the goal difference around. What if they scored six at Collingham? Anyway far more people did not share my view, and when I picked Lath, Eddie, Ben and Dawson up at midnight the party was still in full swing. Clay Cross did the business away at Collingham but only improved their goal difference by two, so on the final day we were left with travelling to Derbyshire looking at not losing by seven. A coach load of fans plus many more by car and a great support greeted the players as they came out. Banners were draped everywhere and the mood of everyone matched the occasion. Personally the nerves had kicked in - what if we produce a display like at Swinton, what if we concede early, have someone sent off! I need not have worried as the lads put in an excellent display. Clay Cross scored on the fifteen minute mark, with a goal which was an embarrassment to the official. Johnny Bownes headed clearance came back off the cross bar and bounced down and away. The home fans and players appealed for the goal, and the linesman who was not up with play said it had crossed the line. It was doubtful that it had, but we had to live with it. We were denied a stone wall penalty as the officials did their best to aid the home sides cause, but early in the second half Josh Davies eased the nerves with a great strike. We conceded two poor goals later on, put in the last minute Tomlinson showed what a class act he can be , chipping the keeper from twenty yards out. The travelling faithful erupted in celebration and the championship was on its way to Harworth. The scenes afterwards were memorable and were to last well into the following morning. At long last the Colliery had something to celebrate and to all involved be it committee, players or supporters a big thank you to you all for helping achieve this. By reckoning there were five players with village connections on the pitch and I know that means a lot to some people at the club. A mention for a couple of people who I am sure would have loved to see this happen. Firstly Rob Needham who made me feel welcome at the club when I first arrived. Always had time for a word and used to nip out of the pav and ask me how the Colliery were doing. As a Colliery legend I am sure he would have been over the moon in what was achieved. The second person is Rob Dawson. Rob was one of the first people I got to know, on the gate in all weathers and sat in his chair near where Tom’s tea room is. Also had radio Sheffield on and would shout the Rotherham scores to me. Both are sadly missed.
So there we are, another season bites the dust. Hopefully the F.A. Will rubber stamp our promotion to the NECL and we can start preparing. Someone said at our night out that we should look at just staying in the league next season, but knowing Lee I am sure he will aim higher than that. Lee hates losing football matches and his will to win is there for all to see. He has achieved what he was brought in to do and has been accepted by all at the club. Also a mention for our fitness coach Ben. The work he does with the squad is invaluable and we are surely one of the fittest sides in the league.

Players appearances ( taken from CML website)
We used fifty nine players in total, from the single game up to the top figure of 34 by Mr Edmondson. Here are the main ones who are still with the club.

Eddie - 34 - our Captain has had a terrific season and has thoroughly deserved his awards at the presentation. Had an injury free campaign and the Bentley game showed how much we miss him. Also a great club man off the pitch as well. Deserves the awards he picked up at the presentation night.

Sean Mundy - 33 Improved so much this season and has scored some important goals in the process. Also impressed me at the Renishaw game with his positively when he knew the manager was leaving. Vice chairman’s player of the season.

Gaz Mundy. 30. Gaz has had a great season and has settled into his position at the heart of the defence well. Has bags of pace which I noticed when he kept up with Matty Bradley at the Dinnington game. Great header and tackler.

Josh Davies - 30 - We all know of what Josh can do and towards the end of the season Josh has been excellent. Lee has managed to get his work rate up as well as his skill on the ball. Can put a long range pass to perfection. Well deserved managers player of the year.

Jordan Hardman 27 Jordan had a great start to the season, but due to work commitments, injury or illness was in and out the side in the later stages. Unlucky to have an accident at work on the final day and missed out on all the celebrations.

Lewis Francis. 26 - Franny has had a good season, scored some important goals as well. Mark said Franny was not happy with his performance in our final game, but personally I thought he played a very tricky winger very well.

Johnny Bownes - 24 - Johnny can play at the back or mid field and is one of those players who can break play up. Left for a few weeks to go to Worksop Town, but really pleased to see him return to Harworth . An important member of the squad.

Steve Wibberley 22 Another one who season has been curtailed by injury. Wibb is an excellent organiser and has made some important saves this season. Had a great end to the season.

Jordan Woodhall- 18- First had a look at this lad when Mark told me to watch him in an under 21 game. Knew within the first five minutes he was something special. He belies his years, and very unlucky to pick up an injury in the Phoenix game which kept him out the run in.

Kenzie Tomlinson - 17 Cannot believe he was only involved in seventeen games. Has bags of skill and do not think we have seen the best of him. Scored some terrific goals and hopefully he is available more next season. If he had played the early part of the season (given the chance) would have had a shout for one of the main awards.

Jack Conley 14 - a very tricky winger who again has scored some important goals. Against Collingham he got the only goal of the game, and his header against Retford was superb. Unfortunately involved in the RTA with Mark which has ended his season.

Callum Rudd -13 Another young player who has nailed down a first team spot this season. Can pick a pass and has done a job in a certain role this season. Another one for the future.

Sam Foulds - 12 -was Lee’s first signing to replace Lee Holmes and announced his arrival with a hat trick against Dinnington. Scored some important goals and a threat to all defenders. Did not do himself any favours in the Retford game, but everyone deserves a second chance.

Joe Byron - 11 - Yes Joe has made the list, scored one goal and on his day he can play a bit too. Left to get regular first team football but was there last week at the celebrations to provide the entertainment.

Jacob Dawson 10 - A solid player at left back who was having a decent season when he picked up a bad injury which kept him out for most of the season. Looks like we will be losing him as he is moving away but was another good talent in the making.

Sam Westerman - 10 - Everyone forgets about Sam Westerman who also played early season before picking up an injury that kept him out all season. Hopefully set for a return next season.

Greg Archer - 9 - Greg retired at the end of last season, but was on call when we needed him. We could call on him when Jordan picked up his injury and has helped towards the end. A fully fit Arch is an asset and hopefully will come out of retirement next season.

Sam Harty - 9 - came to us late in the campaign and has played a variety of positions.
Still think there is more to come from this lad.

Daniel Jones-9- Signed after the Askern game and was good cover for Wibb whilst injury. Made some decent saves before an operation on his finger kept him out the squad. Back for the last few games but Wibbs form kept him out.

Tom Pick - 9 - Tom had limited opportunities this season, but has still weighed in with a couple of goals. On his day can be a threat to any defence.

Tom Walker - 9 - What can I say about Mr Walker - made several appearances, scored against Welbeck to calm the nerves, but the less said about that penalty miss against Thorne the better.

Mark West - 7 - Only seven appearances but his goals have been invaluable, especially that ninety eight minute header against Bentley. A hard working forward who is not afraid to track back and help the defence. Hopefully we can get him back next season.

James Woodward -3- According to Woody that’s it no more competitive football. A former player of the year he has not had many opportunities this term, but when he has played as been as reliable as ever. Good luck for the future and thanks for all what you have done for the Colliery over the years.

Mark Latham -1- After four years away did not think I would ever write his name under players again. Just the one game but an important clean sheet. Really pleased for him this season as I know how much it meant to him. He has turned into a real Colliery man, up their refereeing Saturday and Sunday mornings for the juniors and obviously Saturday afternoons with the first team.Just make sure this is the last time I write about your playing career.

There were also another three sides on the senior front which also saw successful seasons. Our under twenty ones welcomed Bren back to the fold, managing our young side with our chairman and also Mark Brogan. It would be a tough year as all the sides in the league were at least two divisions higher than ourselves. But they produced some excellent performances and results and I was glad to witness some of them. They drew away against Sheffield United two two in a game they could have won, if I remember right we missed a penalty kick. Still a point against them was a good result. A one nil home loss against Hallam could have been so different as we missed a penalty midway through the second half to take the lead, and Sod’s law saw the visitors nick the game with a late goal. The next game I think was the most impressive scoreline of the lot when league winners Handsworth Parramore visited the Jones and Co and were defeated three two. It was a tremendous result for the players and Jonny, Bren and Mark and if I remember right did we not blood a young sixteen year old keeper that night? Two more impressive home results were to follow within the space of a week. Firstly Staveley Miners Welfare were defeated by three goals to two, and a week later Sheffield FC lost by two goals to nil.
The season kind of fell away as the team last played on the 7th December and were not in league action until 18th April. But whatever I think a good season for our young side and the management can be proud of what they achieved with them.

Managers player. Callum Rudd

Players Player. Ross Wicks

The reserves to be fair I have not seen a lot of this season at all, obviously playing opposite our first team on a Saturday. Had a successful season, especially after the turn of the year when towards the end of the season Nick Revills side went eight games unbeaten. I saw the Cromford game, after our Clay Cross fixture was postponed and they won by a goal to nil. Thanks to Nick, Dan and Liam, after the presentation night I know that Jonny has put you under no pressure next season. Michael Wibberley was top scorer with fourteen goals.

Managers player. Stuart ( Nudge ) Needham

Players players . Joe Coleman

Our Ladies side has progressed this season and still have a chance of silverware after reaching the final of the Krukowski cup, a game that is not being played until the 30 May. After being promoted two divisions after winning the league last term, Mark and Luke have overseen a side that have established themselves well at a higher level, and with also having two home league games left they can finish as high as fifth if they win both games. I have seen most of the home games this season and they have always put in a performance even when the results have gone against them. Sophie Tomlinson was top scorer with nine goals.

Supporters player. Rachel Mullen.

Players Player. Colleen John

Managers player. Vicky Hogg.

M.U.S.C. - Not seen a lot of these lads since Mark stopped playing, but this year have finished fourth in the league, reached a cup semi final and also were runners up in the final of another. Well done to first team regular Franny for picking up both awards.

Players Player. Lewis Francis

Managers Player. Lewis Francis

There were another couple of awards given out. The Rob Needham young player went deservedly to Jordan Woodhall, whilst the long standing award when to the retiring James (Woody) Woodward and the absent Kyle Pashley.

So that’s it a season that will long be remembered by many. As well as the above there are many people to thank behind the scenes who make this club tick as well as managers and players. Firstly our Chairman - any one who was present at the presentation night will be aware of the high esteem this man is held in. Nearly every one who spoke had good things to say and all along the same theme of what he has done for them and their teams. We did not have a great start to the season behind the scenes, but we have won the league under his principles and I know that means a hell of a lot to him. A man who is 100% Colliery through and through and thoroughly deserved the accolades bestowed on him. Satch deserves lots of credit as well, always available to do odd jobs that need doing, on a home match day is up their very early getting things done. He goes round the Pavillion with raffle tickets, and also helps out in Tom’s Tea Room, alongside another person I must mention, Brenda who works tirelessly in there keeping everyone fed and watered. Must say when Bren a few years ago mentioned about getting a tea room I thought the idea a bit mad as we were not the best supported club at the time. But what a master stroke it turned out to be and it raises much needed income . Talking about Bren , he came back to management this season with our under twenty ones, a committee member and also treasurer who has the unenviable task of collecting those fines as well as many other things. Also the new David Bailey ! The third member of the Wilson family who deserves thanks is Scotty, also a committee member and the regular gate man . Alan Wibberley for running the tea room on reserve day and also helping out on match days. Also got the title of chief line sweeper when the snow came in the Askern game. The committee members not mentioned above, Kev, Dave, Nick, Dan, Paul, who I must congratulate on his under fourteens winning the league. If I have missed anyone I apologise but I hope I have not. To all the sponsors your funding is appreciated and in a club like ours is really appreciated. And finally to all those supporters who has made this season all worthwhile. Eight and a half years ago when I came to the club we were lucky if we got a double figure attendance. Contrast that to the final home game when over three hundred were present. I have never heard anything like the roar that went up when Kenzie scored the first at Scrooby Road and what a shame the league denied us a fantastic day. But we made up for it a week later, those flags being everywhere and turning the ground into a sea of orange. Unforgettable scenes which we should all treasure, but they have gone now and on Monday we must start preparing for the next phase of our future. ORANGE ARMY.

Dedicated to our Chairman. Quiet Riot - Winners take all.

Life’s been good
Life’s been bad
Know I know
What I had
Has taken its toll on me.

Yes we give
And we take
What we get
Is what we make
Believe that dreams come true

Life is crazy
We’re not fools no no

The price is high
When you keep the score
Take your souls
And your goals
To the top

Together we stand
We won’t take no more
Cause we’re winners
And winners take all

We have loved
Burned by fate
But for once
Set the record straight.
Time does heal all the wounds

You have laughed
We have cried
Paid our dues
Yes we’ve turned the tide
Mistakes are far and few

We need no guidance
Our aim is true

Down the road
There were many tolls
But we know
Cause we’re grown
What we need

Together we stand
We won’t take no more
Cause we’re winners
And winners take all

The price is high
When you keep the score
Take your souls
And your goals
To the top

Together we stand
We won’t take no more
Cause we’re WINNERS
And WINNERS take all.
