The Colliery Ladies in their First ever season win the Sheffield and Hallamshire Division 3 title going Unbeaten in the process.
Wednesday saw the Champers opened and the Ladies and the Management could finally enjoy being named League Winners at the first time of asking, what an achievement from all involved and winning e very game bar one just shows how consistent they have been.
It makes it all the greater achievement that this is the first senior ladies side that the club have had and we hope we can now onto bigger and better things with more Ladies/Girls teams on the agenda we are sure that we will.
Heres a summary of the season from Manager Nick Burton, the club would also like to thank Neil Machin of Clay Lane Construction for his unwavering support both of the ladies and of the Club.

Twelve months ago when we first had the idea of developing a ladies section to Harworth Colliery, I don’t think anyone could have predicted how successful our first season would be. Preseason saw a positive start to ladies football at the Jones & Co Recreational ground with 4 victories from 6 games, including the highlight of a 5-2 victory over a strong Mansfield Town Ladies Side.
Our first ever league game saw us drawn against Sheffield Wednesday Development Team, which saw us run out 5-3 victors in a hard fought game. After a commanding 12-2 victory over Hemsworth saw us scheduled to play Penistone Church and Millmoor Juniors, two teams that we knew we would be battling it out for top spot come the end of the season, with 1-0 and 3-1 victories respectively left us sitting top of the league.
League games became intermittent due to a successful foray into the county cup, we successfully overcame Staveley Minors Welfare (7-2), Oughtibridge War Memorial Ladies (2-0) and Doncaster Belles (3-2) before a quarter final defeat to Sheffield Wednesday First Team. After the disappointment of defeat in the county cup our attention turned back to the league, after some crucial victories against Sheffield Wednesday Development, Socrates and a valuable point against Penistone left us in a position of needing 4 points from 9 available. One of these games was our return fixture against Millmoor Juniors, which was a fantastic advert for women’s football with end to end action, which resulted in a 3-1 victory for Harworth. In what seemed a bit of anti climax after all the hard work by all the girls we were awarded a walkover which gave us three points, meaning we claimed the league title with one game to play.
I would like to thank the club for supporting us with this venture, Mark and Dylan for helping with the coaching and most importantly all the girls who have worked so hard to achieve what they have this year.
