Match Preview by Paul Latham ahead of tomorrows last home game of the season V Welbeck FC

We welcome the management, players and supporters of Welbeck FC to the Jones and Co. recreational ground for our final home game this season. In what could have turned out to be a very important fixture for ourselves, the disappointing home defeat to Ollerton last weekend has rendered this game a bit of an anticlimax. Promotion aims were shattered with the result and the dreams we had have all but gone. Today's game gives us a chance to get back the winning feeling but, with no disrespect to our visitors, it is a game we are expected to win. Welbeck have won just the one of their twenty five games, with one draw and twenty three losses. They have conceded a mammoth one hundred and eighty one goals, so it's hoped we can put our goal drought to bed. To be fair it is very difficult to muster any enthusiasm for a game like this, but credit to Welbeck they complete their fixtures week on week, never failing to turn out a side, and unlike some other sides do not fold mid season and alter league tables. I am sure the management have a difficult time, and hopefully their luck will change soon and they can compete more competitively in our league.
If we feel disappointed at our position at the moment, Wednesday nights under nineteen fixture shows us how the future could look for us if we go the right way. Thirteen of the squad were at Monday nights training, plus on the night Mark could name a full squad, with added extras there for support. For a game that meant nothing, it shows that this group of players have the commitment and desire to turn out for the Colliery and this is only a good thing for all involved with the club.
Finally, as most people are aware the tour de Yorkshire comes to Harworth this afternoon, and for anyone who is here this afternoon for the first time, welcome and hope you enjoy the game. If you do let's hope to see you all again next season. Safe journey home everyone and see you in August.
