Match preview ahead of Saturdays Home game V Welbeck Welfare, please note fixture was originally away so please attend and support your Local club

We welcome the management, players and supporters of Welbeck Lions F.C. for this afternoons Abacus central midlands league north fixture. The original fixture should have been a Welbeck home fixture, but with their pitch not looking like it would be fit in time after all the recent poor weather, it was decided to switch the game. Well done to all involved to get the fixture played, let’s hope we see an entertaining game this afternoon.
Our visitors currently occupy 17th place in the league, having gained eight points from the twenty they have played. They have won two and drawn two, but tasted defeat in the sixteen other games. The two wins were both at home , two one over Brodsworth and five two over Newark. The two draws were both two two scorelines, against Dronfield Town reserves , and more recently last month away at Newark. Their latest result was a fortnight ago when they lost three nil away at Lincoln Moorlands. There is no doubt that they have improved this season, with some close games at times and not losing by large margins that they have done over previous seasons.
It will be nice to get back on the pitch for the first time since our last game a fortnight ago away at Retford. I said at the time that the cup would be a distraction and I was not particularly bothered if we were to be knocked out. As it turned out we were, but unfortunately other events marred what had been an entertaining game of football. Enough has been written by the clubs and other reports, and we will see in time what the outcome will be. The main thing for us is that we stay focussed on which is important and that is three points today. Since our last game, we have lost another player that has moved on to higher things as well as Sam who is suspended. An old face has returned and another may be involved Saturday, so we move on, and with the games counting down, our fate is still in our own hands.
